Dear Bitcointalk community,

in the past days, we came across a very popular and interesting topic that drew our attention on nearly every social media and bitcoin related news channel: Talking of "Stellar".. https://www.stellar.org/blog/introducing-stellar/
To be honest, we don't completely understand if it's a coin, a protocol, a network, or some hybrid form and we're not even sure if it's completely legit because of the close relations to Ripple and its centralized distribution form,... so we decided to make a short survey here and simply ask you about your opinion towards Stellar and if you think Crypto-Trade should add STR/BTC & STR/USD - or make a Gateway, whatever that means Wink

  • What's your opinion towards Stellar? Is it legit or a scam? Why do you think so?!
  • Should we integrate it to our currency markets? STR/BTC STR/USD?
  • As a Crypto-Trade user: The integration of Stellar would affect your opinion towards us in a positive or a negative way?
  • If you're currently not a user of Crypto-Trade, do you think that the implementation of Stellar might change that?

Please try to provide an independent and objective assurance, if possible Wink
Thank you.

Regards,
Crypto-Trade

Would this mean US based users could deposit and withdraw USD?

I'm still undecided on Stellar but can see some possible benefits in it being on CT Smiley

Whats makes you so sure about that?  There is nothing to show that Stellar will achieve mass adoption or become more popular then bitcoin.  At the moment all it is just people signing up to claim their free stellers as they will do for any altcoin, in hopes they can sell it.
To get their initial free stellars they also have to hand over all the personal details, contacts, interests, associations, movements etc via FB to Stellar, which they might regret later if the company starts selling their information to marketers or other groups.  Has anyone read their privacy policy?

They are also giving away 20% of Stellar to Bitcoin holders Wink
This could make it alot easier on exchanges to support stellar

Quote
Bitcoin program
20% of the initial stellars are set aside to be distributed to holders of bitcoin and XRP (19% for bitcoin holders and 1% for XRP holders).

We will take a snapshot of the bitcoin blockchain at a particular date and will set up a claim page that will allow bitcoin holders to receive their pro-rata share of the stellars reserved under this program by verifying they control their address from that blockchain snapshot. For example, a user owning .001% of the bitcoins in the blockchain snapshot would receive .001% of the stellars set aside for bitcoin holders under this program, or 190,000 stellars.

For bitcoin holders, distribution will begin within 6 months after Stellar is open to the public. The Foundation will maintain this claim site for at least 3 months.

I think stellar is a complete scam, why? because its makers have the control over it. if it gets popular and had a high selling price, the owners of it will be very rich. they may dump all of their stellar on the exchange and make money out of it

please donate stellars to: thebenjamincode
Thank you! Cheesy

I'm a little uncomfortable with it. They claim that the signup reward was reduced to keep in line with "market value". By implication, people in the future may receive 50k stellars for signing up - should the price go down sufficiently.

All smells of manipulation to me, but an exchange can always cash in on the initial hype I guess. There's certainly commission to be made even if folks just sign up and dump.

I think it's a good idea and not a scam. It has the potential to increase the adaption of cryptos in general. Great way to pay/get paid/transfer cryptos and "ancient" money. And somehow I trust the team behind it.
