Hello Everyone,
I want to know if someone knows if hiding bitcoin as a treasure hunt is legal ? If the entry is free ? If the entry has a fee ? At what point we can consider this as gambling ?
Thanks !

Forget the point about the bitcoin treasure. Think of it as a treasure hunt with 'some' treasure. You will have your answers.

There is no reason why it would be illegal. There was a cash treasure hunt on the west coast several months ago that caused the twitter handle to get thousands of followers.
I think a similar BTC treasure hunt would increase BTC awareness and adoption.

I don't think there are any legal concerns but it might not be trusted because of the nature of Bitcoin and all the scams that have gone on.

It is a wonderful way to get new people acquainted with bitcoin and increase its use. Of course, this is assuming that the winners of the treasure hunt do not get scanned out of their bitcoins.

There is no reason why it would be illegal. There was a cash treasure hunt on the west coast several months ago that caused the twitter handle to get thousands of followers. The fact that the guy remains anonymous might be an indicator of the uncertainty he has. Moreover somebody tries to make hidden cash in Paris and they received a letter from the police Buzi’s plans to stage a Hidden Cash event in Paris, however, came to an abrupt end this week after police sent him a letter informing him that it was against the law to distribute money in public in France. The offense is punishable by six months in jail and a 30,000 euro ($40,000) fine. http://www.france24.com/en/20140626-france-police-say-non-hidden-cash-treasure-hunt-paris/By the way I contacted my local police to know more about it

I don't see how it couldn't be legal. In essence that is like burying cash somewhere and having a contest for people trying to find it.... (like an Easter Egg hunt)

Yikes. Laws which go against common sense. There must be a story about how this law originated.

How it is illegal in some cities now to give anything to a homeless person. I mean, I see why they're saying that but at the same time give me some freakin' freedom man!

FTFY. :-) And I agree, there are many stupid laws like that out there, that all they do is further restrict our freedoms.

Interesting topic I doubt would be illegal but some places might class it as illegal and gambling if fees are needed to be paid if it was a pure free treasure hunt into finding with clues etc then I do not think would be but paying any fees towards it to access would being a way classed as gambling. And as the states state that gambling is not allowed well at least some its legal others not.

Looks that way when I go to France next am going to get a mega phone and start shouting I use Bitcoin I have Bitcoin see if I get arrested. At the same time shit like that from the Police is stupid I would of kept my gob closed when being questioned by police until I had my solicitor present or answered some questions about it all but what they did is illegal to do anyway without any proof other than using the word Bitcoin my legal firm would of had a filed day way them and took legal action for damages and costs

Forget those illusions and get some real deal. Those you mention are not worth of time.
