just tell me anything about Bitcoin
-The blockchain is the brilliant technological innovation, and the source of Bitcoin's intrinsic value.
-Bitcoin is merely the first app developed on this new protocol layer (blockchain). Think of it like HTTP.
-The blockchain is the birth of Internet 2.0 and Money 3.0
-Will make you insanely wealthy, if you want.
-Will change the way human beings think about money forever
-Is a pandora's box that has been opened and can never be closed.
-Even if bitcoin were to die (spoiler: it won't), crypto would live on in some form. Fiat's days are numbered.
-Could very well be the beginning of the end of perpetual fiat-fueled nation-state war.
-Will make your corrupt, useless piece of shit government and their artificially propped-up funny-money obsolete and worthless, in time.
-Represents the dawn of the true information age, the age of reason. As long as we don't have a nuclear apocalypse in the near future...

Are there specific questions you still need answered apart from a survey? I bet most people around here are more than glad to help someone who is interested in getting to know more about the subject they're spending so much time on!

I personally don't really know what will come of it. It may 'succeed' (whatever that means) or it may fail completely. What is so special about it is that it's the first of its kind. It's something that's never been there before. It's merely a protocol or set of rules that everyone abides by, and can therefore transfer money. If someone decides not to abide by the protocol, it's immediately obvious (by definition) that he did something 'forbidden' and no one is going to accept their transaction or whatever they tried to do. It's basically a majority vote what the rules are. So there's no single entity in charge of the whole system. That's what makes bitcoin so incredible.

What can it become? I guess we don't know that as of now! I guess it's not the best system for day to day use in the supermarket. But may find its niche. It's awesome as a store of wealth, it's great for anonymous online shopping, it's unbeatable as a means of transferring small/medium and especially big amounts of money world wide in the matter of seconds!

Survey completed.  One of the better surveys I have seen.  Asks a lot of relevant questions and really makes you think about where you stand on this technology.

I did the survey as well. I think the questions you are asking should be able to get you a good understanding.

You'll find that there's a lot of hype, err hope, but not a lot of fact.

If you want to investigate the future growth of Bitcoin I see the question being structured like this:

1) Measure future growth in terms of Adoption

2) Measure future growth in terms of value of BTC to USD/GBP/EUR

For item 1) you can find a lot of information on retailer adoption and infrastructure improvements (i.e., easier ways for people to get started using/transacting in Bitcoin).

For item 2) you should a) use standard principles of economics to understand how the greater supply of coins (up to the 21 million max) will influence the price (inflation), b) think about how the action of fiat inflation may impact the exchange rate, and c) use standard investment technical analysis (i.e., price trends, volume trends, and moving averages) to project how the price per BTC may grow or decline.

Asking for people's thoughts will get you a ton of great, optimistic opinions, but little fact that may be useful or required for a sound graduate paper.

One ask I have of you is to please post your paper on this forum so we can all benefit from your analysis.

Good luck with it, sounds like an interesting project!

Thank you for completing my survey and giving me suggestions.

My thesis is try to analyze via different theory ...e.g. network of externalities

i.e. more people accepting it or willing to use it can enhance the development and popularity of Bitcoin

Or....try to find out what do people expect , what the condition to make them accept Bitcoin are/is.

I will post my research paper in this forum later...

Please help me to distribute my survey.

Thank you guys

Hey bitcoinucl, I just completed your questionnaire.

I remember filling in a questionnaire for a grad student of UC Irvine some time (half a year) ago. Are you in contact with her. Do you have her results?

Are you interested in collaborations? I wrote a simple study of address reuse in the blockchain:
