I'm not in Europe but if I were I would definitely use kraken.  I think OP is justified to be worried but unfortunately this kind of required ID is gonna become the norm very soon.  Sad but to be expected.

i don't agree here. It will become the norm for those who play along. Many are fast to send their ID and picture. Ok, have fun. You do that and they know everything and going to harass you all year long in the not so distant future about all kinds of things. It's just strings of numbers. You can trade them on the street. Exchanges are just convenient services but no absolute necessity. Every google-doc can be an exchange. Every Joe with an iphone on the street can be an exchange. I don't see why i should give up anonymity just like that and exchange it for total transparency. Why was that again i should do that? I won't and i don't have to.

Those refusing to give up their anonymity today will be laughing about the sheep tomorrow because they got you by the balls now when you really didn't have to play along. But you did. Most will understand the implications of their decision to send selfies and ID much later - when it's too late. They'll be saying "why did i do that?" later.

The Bitcoin ledger is a permanent tracking tool and you're worried about giving your ID out?  lol.

It's only gonna take one "terrorist" to buy some bomb with a crypto coin and then a mandatory law will be passed for every exchange.  It's only a matter of time.
