How To Get used cheap/free hardware.

Go onto ebay, choose any listing but it now or auction, WIN the listing $$ is no object bid it up!

When you receive that equipment message seller to discuss a "problem", does not matter the reason try; Low hash, will not power up, smells funny, etc... Seller will most likely offer a refund/replacement, GREAT. Now just mine for the next 28 days, then file claim with ebay "CS" in the resolution center and request "Full Refund", after 3 days escalate the claim and eBay will issue a RMA and sometimes even front you the shipping. You can usually get a few more days of mining before returning equipment. 3 days after return delivery to seller, eBay will transfer funds and they go after the seller. So for the "cost" of a traceable shipment you can get 30+ days of hash.

The best thing EBAY will support you in the action 100% forcing the seller to accept equipment back (or even empty boxes Smiley )

Ah eBay -- A Pirates life for me..

p.s. Above depicts actions taken against my business, thousands lost trying to spread the BTC network. Scumbags are getting thick in here!

Sellers Beware!

Took me 3 hours on the phone and 4 layers of CS to get this concept, E'N'AY needs to change the way they do business. Clearly they have created a monster.

Ebay is an extremely shady company when working with bitcoin related stuff. They will always side with the buyer and there were cases, where the buyer got the goods and said he didn't. The seller had tracking info and everything, still buyer got money back + the miner...

Stay away!

It is sad but I hear a lot of these going on...  Ebay sellers can ROI fast but there is always the risk of catching one of these customers and forget the ROI.  Will be in a hole so fast

Sad

Ahh eBay... Pirate's life indeed.  Nothing for the seller and every chance in the world for the buyer to scam.  Criagslist is a decent option in bigger cities.

Had the EXACT thing happen to me.

For those who didn't read the entire thing he is a seller that had this happen (probably multiple times).

I had 2 units the user kept for 2.5 months and still won the claim that it was broken.  Shipped back 2 Avalon 2 55nm 200GH/s FUBAR'ed...  They left FULLY secured and hashing.

Ebay basically told us to get fucked in the long run.  No matter how much I helped the guy originally with problems that didn't exist with the miners.  We dealt with a guy named DJ from Ebay and basically he is just as large of a failure at life as the guy who screwed us.

I've sold a lot of asic miners through ebay, only had 1 return which was legit.  I did get some guidance from ebay though as well as paypal to not sell bitcoin related items with a refund due to high fraud rates. When I was selling bitcoins on ebay and accepting paypal, fraud was through the roof and lost some btc to compromised paypal buyer accounts. Anyway, after putting no refund/no return on my auctions, I've had no issues.

I am waiting for someone to develop that awesome alternative system to replace the ebay/paypal system. It's just a matter of time before something breaks through.

I read that Avalon customers had a lot of complaints, did you get scammed twice on those?
