Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Hello,
After 14 days your funds will unfreeze automatically if the transaction still isn't complete. I know two weeks is a long time, but unfortunately there isn't any other way to do this. We try to assist our users in situations like this, but with current price volatility (big down movements) there are many more, which we unfortunately don't have the manpower to handle. Hopefully we'll work something out to aid this situation.

If you're based in the EU you should consider using Intersango.com, they're based in the UK but trade Euro and support SEPA transfers.
They're the largest GBP market, and if you're based in the UK transfers are very fast, on top of this they have excellent customer service.

Why should I use Intersango and pay for every transaction if I can have a reliable free service (+ voluntary donations) that just acts as an escrow and let's people deal with each other directly. As I understand it, Intersango is much more like Tradehill. So, I'm guessing it will also run similar risks as TH. Regulation-wise, trust-wise, technical security-wise, banking and other money-services-co-operation-wise... With bitmarket not only do I save a lot of money, I don't have to trust the exchange with my fiat money, it is much safer and cheaper for the service itself.
If Bitcoin is all about taking out the middle man, this applies just as well for exchanges. Why should we pay for anything more than the current market price, which we are negotiating directly with other bitcoin traders? I like the idea of a service from ourselves for ourselves. If people are happy with the service, they can and probably will make a donation.
On a different note, why is bitmarket down right now? Also, there were problems with withdrawing btc in the last few days. I could only withdraw in very small numbers. What happened?
