Nobody can tell you. It's all speculation, and you should've learned by now that we don't necessarily need some news for the price to go up or down. If it did that we should be skyrocketing right now with all the good news and merchants getting involved recently.

It's because of Alex Jones. He started accepting it and now the world thinks it's crazy.

Seriously though, there is no sense in the bitcoin world. It'll probably have bounced back within a few days.

No one can. Of course, many will tell you they know the answer. You may notice that their assessments disagree. That is because they are often baseless guesses. The only thing that can be said with certainty is that when the price is going down supply is outpacing demand.

Buying opportunity??? Huh  I kid, but not really.  Get in on the dip!

Most likely FUD news as usual:

http://www.latimes.com/business/hiltzik/la-fi-mh-bitcoins-wild-west-20140812-column.html

http://blogs.wsj.com/totalreturn/2014/08/12/five-questions-about-the-bitcoin-crackdown/

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2014/08/11/consumer-bureau-now-taking-and-expecting-bitcoin-complaints/

Too risky, need regulation, Bitcoin is the wild wild west Yada Yada.  Same song and dance.

Bitcoin always plummets on bad or critical news, slight increase or stabilizes or consolidates on positive news, and goes to the moon on no news it seems.

So like I said, BUY BUY BUY!   Cool

No special news. Maybe impatient whales waiting for the next bubble decided to dump their coins.  Smiley

Nice chart Cheesy

In my opinion the price is only bouncing and in few weeks we will see over $600 values, but don't quote me on this Smiley

(one of many speculative reasons)

the guys selling Ether (currently a vapour product, not even a real altcoin until 2015) for bitcoin last month, have dumped some bitcoin. but now it seem the price is climbing again to retrace back to the resistance point prior to the dump. so 'hopefully' thats the days drama finished with.

Flagged because this belongs in the speculation sub-section.

Lately it seems to go down the beginning of the month and bounces back towards the end.

Price goes up, price goes down - you can't explain that. I gave up trying to make sense of the fluctations.

And shouldnt this be in speculation?

HOLY SHIT that's dead accurate within $10 and two days, and it's a prediction made a month ago!

Who is this guy?

There are hundreds (or maybe thousands) of speculations through the forum, it's normal that someone can predict the right price.
It would be surprising if the price will really rise to $1000 in the second week of September Smiley

The price was already unstable and then the US Consumer Financial "Protection" Bureau released a very negative report calling Bitcoin "the Wild West."
