Hey all,

People keep saying illicit use is on the decline with Bitcoin. Is it true?

I know we're all curious.. so what better way to find out than an anonymous Bitcointalk poll.

Do you/have you used Bitcoin for illicit purposes?

Is gambling considered illicit? Just not sure on it on a state by state basis, but I am pretty sure at the Federal level it is considered some kind of crime and you could get arrested for online gambling, so I guess that would be illicit then?

Legalese terms are not my strong point so I am unsure of. No I have not done anything with bitcoin besides trade back and forth really.

Never used for illicit purposes.

Used only for DRM-free games and services("legally ok" where I live).

I have not but who would admit to that on this thread? I supposed if you always login with TOR it would be ok but I would say even that wouldn't be considered safe.

I think I missed the boat when it comes to using Silk Road for buying and selling illegal items. Tongue But, seriously, I'm too busy trying to do a legitimate job of earning Bitcoin to really worry about using it for illicit purposes. I haven't even used it to pay for sex.

Wow this poll really contradicts the mainstream news saying Bitcoin is used by criminals and drug dealers.

That quite bearish, it means that there is no real need for a larger amount of bitcoins in circulation.
And 80+% are using bitcoin for speculative purposes only, like me. Roll Eyes

Sometimes, if it looks too bullish, it's actually bearish

I don't think that actually gambling with BTC is illegal.  I know it's illegal to run a gambling establishment in the US but not sure on actually gambling online itself.  Anyway look at my sig, but I'm not answering yes or no, and I'm def not answering that poll  Cheesy

The press loves to talk about the "dark net". It makes a far better story than the truth. Nobody wants to read about me buying alpaca socks. I did buy a handgun last week with bitcoin. But it was all legal and boring.  Undecided

Just weed. I use it for PTSD / anxiety / depression relief. I'm sure NSA can easily get my address if you want to send DEA to come arrest me.

The weed is sitting next to me right now. Just be warned, I will turn your prison upside down by teaching fellow inmates radical politics.
