I offer $30 for an XBOX GOLD 1YR.  You can buy them all over the web from "legitimate" ("legitimate=real stores) sellers if you look carefully for $40 and sometimes $35 and you can pay with a credit card for real protection.  Recently bought one from Best Buy for $40.  eBay always has them for $39-$42 and there you have REAL protection if there is a problem.  I'd risk $30 if you're interested.
