So this transaction was sent by a contact of mine who's been buying up BTC lately.

https://blockchain.info/tx/4a1a053fc069da2ac324aceac83351f81a96dc6c4d6b3115d3bfa6f06e740159

They have sent ONE transaction since they got the wallet and just messaged me saying they
think they sent the funds to the wrong person.

The address they sent to has received a GRIP of BTC and I was wondering if it is a CEX.io address
or a mixer.

Google the address and it has 0 info about it except block explorer search results.

NOW, here is what is odd.

The transaction details for THAT transaction show the outputs sent 7.4 BTC, with no fees, and its already
confirmed.  First part that makes me wonder what is up.

Second part is that on the wallet address main page, the transaction shows:

Total Received - 27.80488648 BTC
Final Balance    - 27.77988648 BTC

https://blockchain.info/address/1B2UhCF2RnNhyUH52nR8aKQFwUATsRn1oc

Its not possible they could have sent 7.4 BTC like the actual transaction shows here.
AND, on the main wallet page, the whole thing is odd to me.
It shows the transaction was 7.4 BTC , but the red output circle is 0.025
AND, final balance minus total received is 0.025 BTC so why is it showing they sent that massive received wallet 7.4BTC

https://blockchain.info/tx/4a1a053fc069da2ac324aceac83351f81a96dc6c4d6b3115d3bfa6f06e740159

I'm trying to ask what type of wallet he used but its strange that the FIRST transaction hes ever sent is so weird to the
fact Ive never seen anything like it.

Next, WTF is that wallet he sent it to...
He didn't send 7.4 BTC, did he, it says it did in the transaction, but his wallet said he didnt.
And how could a transaction that big with 0 fee get confirmations so fast?

I have a friend who did a test with no fee for 0.006 and 12 hours later 0 confirmations.
Any info on what the hell happened here would help but I think hes panicking for no reason and his funds are still
there and he didn't send anyone 7.4BTC but I haven't been doing this long enough to claim to know exactly what I really do se.

I don't really understand what you are saying.

But that 7.4 BTC transaction had 3 inputs:

1BTWBhSmYqvxVXJ9bF5AduhRYhX94bNZCq (0.4 BTC - Output)
1B2UhCF2RnNhyUH52nR8aKQFwUATsRn1oc (0.025 BTC - Output)
1McrokGJ3aSF5Q55FiBttna3viNEJRpJrA (6.975 BTC - Output)

Only 0.025 BTC of address 1B2UhCF2RnNhyUH52nR8aKQFwUATsRn1oc was used so it says -0.025 on that address' page even though the total transaction was 7.4 BTC. I assume the other 2 addresses are also from your contact and all these 3 addresses are in his wallet?

All of that 7.4 BTC was sent to address 1JuLLmh1KU5NRHBqi6K3husyXujB52czhK

It is unclear to me what are his/her addresses and who sent which transaction.

BTC address 1JuLLmh1KU5NRHBqi6K3husyXujB52czhK is associated in a scam accusation though: https://localbitcoins.com/forums/#!/fraud#i-got-scammed-by-bestseller (from Aug 2013) so I am guessing your contact tried to sell bitcoin and sent 7.4 BTC to this "seller" and got scammed? Sad

OK I think some of this could be explained since he said he uses a CEX.io wallet.
I think that input address he receives funds for is not what he sent out from.

If you look at his wallet page here,
https://blockchain.info/address/1B2UhCF2RnNhyUH52nR8aKQFwUATsRn1oc

Look down to the transaction that was a SEND

1B2UhCF2RnNhyUH52nR8aKQFwUATsRn1oc   -          1JuLLmh1KU5NRHBqi6K3husyXujB52czhK    -  7.4 BTC
                                                                                                                           !!!     37 confirmations       -0.025 BTC    !!!

Is the amount in the RED square, -0.025BTC not the amount SENT?
Why would it show two different amounts.

After speaking with him again, Im pretty sure hes using CEX.io and he pasted the wrong address
into the send as he said was sleep deprived.

Either way, Im pretty sure he messed up something pretty bad but the transaction made no sense
showing on the wallet page -0.025BTC and the balance only showing sent that much, but Im guessing
that is because its a web CEX.io wallet.
I dont know WHY or WHERE he got the address from but he said he was pretty sure he sent to the wrong address
by mistake.   This is honestly bad for him.

I searched that wallet here but got no search results.  That's strange.
Will read now.   Thanks

-snip-

Cex.io is not a wallet nor a wallet service. Addresses mean nothing in this context. Thats like saying you own amazons bank account because you send them money to increase the funds shown on amazon.com.

-snip-
They have sent ONE transaction since they got the wallet and just messaged me saying they
think they sent the funds to the wrong person.
-snip-

The chance for a typo in an address is very low, so your friend should know who that address belongs to.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Thats likely, but why did he have that textfile with addresses? Usually because you know someone with that address.

Im not sure how you even got to the part about owning all of CEX.io.  Its one wallet receive address.

A wallet -at least for me- is something that gives you control over at least one private key. So if anything happens to the service you still have the private key to spend the funds useing another wallet.

Cex.io is a service that has a balance. If they go away tomorrow your friend (and everyone else that though storring coins there was a good idea) has nothing but usless login data. The address your friend sends money to in order to increase his balance on cex.io is not under his control. Thus following the balance of that address is irrelevant. The only thing that is relevant is the balance on cex.io. Big companies will not store the money you send them on the addresses they give you to pay.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Yes that is true.  Its not an actual wallet like Armory or a generated cold storage wallet.
I wouldnt leave my balance on there but he chooses to use it.  Not what I would do but that is on him.
Seriously, I dont know him well enough to know where the address / file came from but I think he was
not in the correct state of mind to be sending funds of that amount in that state.
