FWIW.....seems like it goes from delayed to confirmed to cancelled to confirmed on a weekly basis.

That being said, slap some waterblocks on one of these badboys, and you got yerself a 1.5 GH/s card.

I'm so down to buy one of these things.  I'm curious to see how fast this thing guzzles gas clocked full out, balls to the wall.  And conversely, what it's MH/j ratio is when you underclock/undervolt it.

My guess is it will pull 450+ watts if the clocks are set to 1000+ MHz

Good lock undervolting it. If 7970 gives you any clues, it will not be possible to undervolt it without hacked BIOS update.

Wait, I thought people were undervolting them without any issues?  One of the first 7970 threads (I think it was the one where homeboy had 3x7970s in one rig) had his downvolted to 865mv or some shit in the first week of release.

Yeah, here's the thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=57410.0

"BIOS is what it shipped with" and he got it down to 865mv.

Hell no, don't do that. I've spent all I can afford to at the mo on used 5970s, and had to pay prices that were a fair bit higher than I initially budgeted for (most expensive cost me £330). If I have to sell my family into slavery* for my rigs, the rest of you can bloody well too.

I'll trade a pair of HD 5970s for your children*. I need minions to monitor my GPUs, clean the radiators and ward off curious raccoons.

*- Same offer for future unborn children. Rumpelstiltskin taught me a thing or two about investing.

How much power do people need?

Hell, 2 of the overclocked 7970's could deal with Battlefield 3 in eyefinity, what more do you want?

I think you are lying.

How on earth you got to pay only 330 GBP for a 5970 is beyond me.

Prices are 400 GBP at least Sad

I see 5970s routinely sell on eBay in the US$400 range, both in the US and in the UK. Why on Earth would you pay 400GBPs for a used one?

UK eBay checked just now only buy it now offer for 5970 is 400 GBP.

Maybe eBay only shows me the high priced GPUs Cheesy

But seriously 330 GBP for a 5970 in the UK is a STEAL.

Completed listings.
£275.00
£320.00
£290.00
£300.00
£325.00
£300.00
£240.00
£258.00

Actually can't find a COMPLETED sale for >350.  Granted there is always the idiot noob who values his crap at insane prices but I am willing to wager a BTC that card doesn't sell for 400.00 and likely the idiot will try again 2 or 3 times and then drop it to 350.00

I think D&T has just basically given you my E-bay purchase history!  Grin

Actually I managed to get ONE for £215. That soured me on all my later, considerably more expensive purchases. But a quick go at the spreadsheet tells me I have 7 5970s averaging £285 apiece. And by 'have 7' I mean 'have 5 and there will be blood if the other 2 don't turn up within the week'.

I used auctionsniper about a year ago to snag a 1TB OCZ Colossus II for $265. Sold it later that month for $2200  Grin
