How is it that http://freenode.net/pdpc_donations.shtml  does not accept bitcoins... ??
I wondered that too, I even generated a 1Freenode address for it but never got in contact with them. I guess they would probably want to generate their own address if anything.

lol. like the guy on bitmit selling "custom addresses"? This is hilarious, why would they trust you to destroy your copy of the private key?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

lol, "flash swarming websites"? Back in the old days this thread was called "getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin" and offered monetary incentive for success:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4667.0

it included getting organizations to accept bitcoin for donations, which was more successful than getting shops to accept bitcoin.

It would mean that the guy selling you the custom addresses could keep a copy of the private key and repeatedly steal the coins at any point in time in the future. It's an absolute no-go. Just use vanitygen to make your own vanity addresses.

you have 1053 posts in this forum and you don't understand the concecpt of a private key?

I'm being trolled hard... but fuck it, I'll explain to you: "private key" in this context is the key (some bits) that unlocks the bitcoins sent so some address in order to spend them.

oh, in essence, yes: like having a copy of your wallet, entirely correct.

SUCCESS
They got back to me... their first concern was they had no where to spend the bitcoins.
Then I explained how it can be converted instantly using bitpay.
They are signed up with bitpay now.

The donation button redirects to his Bitpay account. That means he cannot see all the actual donations he's receiving. He only sees what Bitpay shows him. Can you tell him to put a bitcoin address on his website?

Tell him he can spend the bitcoins on Bitmit.net or on other etailers listed on the Trade Wiki. And tell him about businesses in his home town of Berlin, like Room 77.

it was brought to my attention that Stefan Molyneux has even put his btc address here...just never made it to his official donation page.

http://www.freedomainradio.com/Podcasts/PodcastList/tabid/72/ctl/ReadDefault/mid/434/ArticleId/4915/Default.aspx
Stefan did put his BTC address on his donation page for a while, then he took it off.  In last week's call-in show he said this was because his Bitcoin wallet was corrupt. So I suggest that people don't send any more donations to that address.

Source:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=katnaRdssd0&t=13m55s

I hope he has help fixing it? It'd be sad to see such a "popular multiplier" lose trust in bitcoin.

maybe best to vet some companies no one has heard before, so that all the efforts of getting them to accept bitcoin is going to increase bitcoins reputation as a global payment method.

pixelhead website (listed a couple posts back) make some strange excuses for not providing delivery straight away

(quote)
Every Pixelhead is made especially for you on request. The process of digital printing and sewing will take weeks.
(end quote)

followed by the knut busting revelation that its not the case

(quote)
Size: Unisize (34 x 26 cm)
(endquote)

if one size fits all and the only image they use is of " German Secretary of the Interior " then there's nothing unique to prevent mass production. or even batch production.

even with producing them ad-hok 3 weeks inexcusable. i can go to a poster / signage company and get the design printed on 2 sheets of elasticated material same day. then stitch it together in under an hour (experienced sewing machine users can do it in seconds)

the reason i post this. if your going to flash mob businesses at least make sure they are NOT going to end up giving bitcoin a even worse bad name.

we need proper respected, non scam organisations on-board. other wise your hard work will be for nothing.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at
