There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I'll create many different bitcoin addresses, maybe 1000, then send that 1 BTC over to those 1000 addresses, publish the list of public keys on a web page or blog or post it here, and you all can verify it through block explorer. Of course, I keep the private keys.

I have a file with 5000 bitcoin addresses I just generated for fun. I'm planning to make it my offline wallet or something.
