Oh dear. This is going to start yet another "ZOMG PRICE GOUGING!" debate. This guy obviously wanted these domains sooner and more than anyone else, otherwise someone else would be the owner instead of him. He's taking a risk that nobody will want them at any price. It's a voluntary transaction. If you don't want to pay for these domains, don't.

Personally, I find these kinds of activities useful, such as ticket scalpers. Recently, I was able to get into a "sold out" concert at the last minute. That wouldn't have been possible otherwise since the demand at the price printed on the tickets was far greater than the supply. The only way I could have gotten into the concert that late is if scalpers were at work. They wait in line so the rest of us with better things to do, don't have to. So, sincerely, thanks a lot! Wink

Actually, the domains were going fast. I double checked a few domains to find out they'd gone since last I checked. So I decided to go for it. I just hope I can get my money back.

As soon as someone did that, it would be sued out of existence. Yet another example of intellectual property laws stifling innovation.

I just registered SgtSpike.com. Interested?  Cool

(just kidding... but seriously, it's available)

In any case, check out my list of domains. I believe there's a few bitcoin business ideas in there.

I bid 0.50 BTC for BitcoinBrothel.com

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

Does anyone use namecheap.com or any site that allows someone to buy domain names via crypto?

They have deals sometimes where domain names can be bought for $.88.

Unfortunately they don't sell a lot of .coms. Its mostly alt domain names.

I think it is not that they don't sell a lot of .com names, it is just that these .com names that you tried to register are already taken.

what is the minimum bid?

I just realized after I made my first post that this thread started 6 years ago! The suggested BTC need to be adjusted.
