What about the next gen machines?!  Of course Neptune and SP30 were both raging disasters with negative ROI.  Only the S3 was an excellent profit machine.  However, all three companies are certainly dialing it all in.  So what will the next round look like?

Will KnC's 'Pluto' be the killing system?

Will Spondoolies be able to recover from their serious shortcomings to build the SP50?

Will Bitmain continue their dominance of awesome early delivery of on spec machines with a new S4?

How do you see it playing out?

KNC- Meh... I love my Jupiter, but I never dealt with them as a company, thankfully.
Spondoolies- Don't have any of their stuff, so no opinion.
Bitmain- If I have a man crush on any company, it is them.

I would like to see what Spondoolies comes out with in the future, not too impressed with their current offerings. KNC can stay by themselves in the corner and play with their own toys. No clue what Bitmain is going to do. They gotta do something with the massive amount of BTC they got from the S3's. AsicMiner and the tube thingy looks pretty cool. Not big on efficiency, but you cannot beat the price. I bought one from Canary to replace my Bitfury rigs.

I am interested to see what kind of machines are coming in the next few months. Efficiency is getting better. Pricing is bottom dollar right now, so companies need to keep that in mind and stop coming out with this $1.50 to 1 GH/s shit.

My Bet is the S4. 2TH, 1400W.
Here is how I see it...

  • Bitmain: S4 2TH, 1400W
  • KnC: Pluto 8TH, 4500W
  • Spondoolies: SP50 12TH, 6000W (4X PSUs)

I think we've pretty much found the ceiling with .5W/GH.  Now we only have to know about the selling price for all of these.  With Bitcoin price in big trouble, development is sure to slow.  This should favor BitMain which develops on their own money rather than pre-order.  Bitmain might be the big winner.

Will the S4 arrive before Christmas?

My Bet is the S4. 2TH, 1400W.

The S2 was much more efficient than the S1. If they repeat that design, they could hit 1200W easy. If they launched 2TH at 1000W they would clean up!

Last I checked bitmain is accepting payments now and will not deliver until approximately September 20th. That my friends by definition is a pre order.

oh wow - so does the s1 upgrade kit simply add two extra hashboards to make your total potential miner run like an s3?  I see no information on S4s on their site?

I didn't realize this was just speculation and that none of these yet exist. I'm definitely going to go with s4 will be announced first.

I don't think Spondoolies will have the capital to produce a SP50 without pre-orders and after the SP30 failure folks will be reluctant to part with their money.

KNC could but I don't think they want to. They are now a mining company.

That leaves the market wide open for Bitmain. Unfortunately current Bitmain gear isn't likely to ROI and with their current pricing model neither is future Bitmain gear.

So the game is over. Bitcoin is on the down and out. Time for a new coin with innovative features, a new approach to proof of work and a new generation of ASICS.
