Right now I am watching, and mining, burst because it uses HDD capacity to mine which I find interesting.

Of course if altcoins go on the rise everything will make a slight rebound but I am wondering about interesting coins that newly got something different that might get a huge jump.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

You want to look for coins that are gaining traction and have positive media, development, communities, growth, etc... but are still very cheap.

Volume should be between 0.5 to 20 BTC if the coin is on an exchange. Stable price range but increasing volume means the coin is going to shoot upward or downward soon.

My guess for a good coin:
Incognitocoin has a very low value at the moment. Though judging by the Bitcointalk thread, the community and development seem to be going very smoothly.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=714716.0

I'm hoping the positive things from Incognitocoin will eventually make the price rise. But only time will tell.

Is there some kind of forking problem that delayed the Syscoin launch?

There is a thread about some sort of problem with Syscoin entitled "Warning regarding Moolah.io escrow".

The luck aspect of Ethereum is that it might launch with a $20 million capitalization but it may not have subsequent buyers to sustain that capitalization or to bring decent ROI.  As well we can assume any insider buyers will fire sell as soon as they realize any profit.

100 wallets own half of Ethereum according to Vitalik - does that sound like much of an userbase?  Not really.  It just implies that dumb money wants a ponzi scheme and many threw it all in without realizing that Ethereum is likely two years from release (an estimation which is agreed upon by many in the alternate community) and additional years away from having a robust ecosystem.  It's actually horrifying the things Vitalik has written on his blog, many suspect we simply may never see Ethereum.

I had no idea that Ethereum is likely two years from release. Could you post a link to some sort of statement about this?

I don't have a link stored in favourites but the information is out there all over the internet.  The ambitious size of the project.  Having to acquire Bitshares.  Vitalik himself mentioning Ethereum is still in the conceptual phase.  Et cetera.

Java and C++ took a good decade plus to work out the bugs and to educate a generation of developers to program in that language.  By the time Ethereum is running all bells and whistles - the crypto race would likely be long over by then.

Two years is forever in crypto land. Someone else might release a killer coin in that time.

Bets:
POW:
BTC
LTC/Doge( soon mined out )
XMR
DRK
-snip-
That's a pretty decent list but I'd take out LTC/Doge. I'm also uncertain about NXT due to the recent troubles.
Considering that it will take them forever to make Etherum (2 years is a long time here), it feels like it was an IPO scam. XMR and DRK crashed hard in these troublesome times.
The safest bet will always be Bitcoin.

I was just reading the Ethereum announcement thread, for the first time in ages.

They've apparently only had like 4400 wallets who sent in funds.  This is like a joke, right?   Because 4400 isn't even that much when we consider there are fair distribution coins with distribution to thousands.  Or even the pre-existing alternates with tens of thousands of users.  It shows that Ethereum just doesn't have an userbase.

As well they are also dumping like mad.  They've dumped thousands of BTC in days and people on the thread are accusing them of trying to kill BTC (they've withdrew $2 million at rock bottom prices within the past 7 days).

https://blockchain.info/address/36PrZ1KHYMpqSyAQXSG8VwbUiq2EogxLo2?filter=1

Ethereum just makes me sick thinking about it all.  100 wallets (wallets =/= people) controlling half the supply and all the greed (among both the developers and 'investors') for a coin which is in the 'conceptual phase' (and may never launch due to double crossing).

Id like to add Aerocoin. Ive yet to see a coin with developers who deliver on time like Aero. Theyre developing great features. It flew under the radar, so it was never pumped and dumped. No premine. As long as the devs continue to deliver on promises i think this is a truly great coin. Ive got 90k and i havent even considered dumping.

I didn't notice you were certain about NXT before the 'troubles' either Wink

Bitcoin is the safest bet is an illusion, soon to become clear not just to a few.

NXT is fine - they have an unparalleled alt ecosystem and upcoming developments.  Bitshares doesn't even come remotely close.  Ethereum is years off.

Of course if altcoins go on the rise everything will make a slight rebound but I am wondering about interesting coins that newly got something different that might get a huge jump.

Here's a coin to look at, only one of it's kind. Proof of Funds...

SaveCoin (SPC) w/PoF is by far one of the most innovative coins to launch over the last year, SaveCoin contains a server side interest payment system which pays you interest on your balance without you needing to keep your SaveCoin wallet software open. You will be paid interest @ 0.137% daily (64% yearly) on all addresses with a balance, regardless of the amount held in any SaveCoin address. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=570526.msg6215659#msg6215659

Hey im going to be launching a coin that will have backing, the product that will be used for backing will be released when the coin is developed.  I say it will be much more better then alt coins as it will be protected from pumps and dumps, I already have a thread on my concept.  I own acres and acres of lands in Europe and soon you will find out that this will be a coin with much more stability because of a slow price growth. Not the usual  get rtich pump an dump coin that happens within a month.

at first i didn't like cryptonite, but now it's growing on me, i'm mining it at the moment, at least it's not a pure clone, because of the mini-blockchain feature

I'll stray away from the Noblecoin thread for a while, as it's a bit quiet.

Price is mega low at the moment, has lost almost 50% in the last month...but there are some really big things coming, the main one being the move to PoS in the next few weeks.

Def one to watch if you want to make a decent profit in the long run.

If you are looking for new and different coins Crypti is new and quite unique and could get a jump in September when they are due to get their furst apps and launch the option for for people to use their system to create their own custom block chains.

Also Storj just listed on Polo as its first exchange. That's quite unique as its a decentralized storage application (a proper one not just a coin for cloud storage by a company like CLD) and if their limited beta goes well it could see a big jump when they have their full public launch.
