this movie was not about the traditional definition of anarchy or anarchy society. it was about government sanctioned elimination of the lower class. there is a huge difference.
you guys are missing the point of this movie. it had more references of religious and patriotic fervor than anything to do with anarchy.
Either way, the movie is called The Purge: Anarchy. It gives a distinct delusion of fear mongering to the name of anarchy.
If you listen to the trailer though, it clearly communicates anarchy as the equivalent to murder being acceptable and widespread.
"For the next 12 hours, all crimes, including murder, will be legal"
The emphasize the point that anarchy for 12 hours would lead to psychotic murders all over the place.
Whether their intentions were to bastardize anarchy or not, that's what they accomplished. And I would be willing to bet they knew their intentions quite well, there are very aware people in hollywood. Movies are made to convey messages.
