I put a WTB message up a few weeks ago looking for 5970s in bulk.

I was contacted by Pastory99.

He offered me 40 at $300 each.

I asked him to send me photos of the boxes and a photo of his ID so I could verify they were real

I got a photo of two large brown boxes - nothing visible. When I asked him to open the boxes and take photos of what was inside, he told me he can't do that and that he could only do it for a genuine buyer (?!)

His ID was blurred and unreadable. When I asked him to scan it, he told me he doesn't have a scanner and his camera can't take clear shots.

BEWARE!

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Nothing "possible" about it.  That's 100% pure scam.

Let us know what he does ..

He was happy to do a deal with PayPal as long as it was a gift saying that could be charged back if I didn't get the goods  ... he says he's in upstate NY but his IP says San Fran ..

Paypal + gift option is a pain in the ass. YOU CAN'T CHARGE BACK unless you are using a stolen cc to send the money, which Paypal will charge him back when the CC company contacts them. NEVER send using gift for physical goods, especially with scammers all around.

Pastory99 asked me to take this thread down.

I asked him to open the boxes and show me the sealed individual units inside.. this is what he replied

dude..did you not understand the part about the boxes being sealed, and me not able to open them unless I had a guaranteed buyer? How would I know you had the money in the first place and would have bought them, not going to open them for you just to show pictures and then risk the chance of you just backing down...

Since he is continuing to (attempt) to scam (unsuccessfully, so far), does that allow the use of the scammer tag? Or does that require a confirmed successful scam followed by additional attempted scams?

I think that if enough people ignore his requests,he'll at least think twice before pulling something off.As for the scammer tag,it appears that there needs to be a confirmed scam (from what I could see anyway.I could be wrong on this though) before the tag gets applied.Look at the other posts where the person was marked as a scammer. It usually follows a trend where the poor guy gets scammed before the scammer gets his deserved tag.
