Just bought one. It wasn't clear how to pay with Bitcoin, but once I figured it out, it took about 30 seconds. I used my Android Mycelium wallet.

Well this one way people will recognize bitcoin,it with  huge savings, bravo to newegg for doing this,  If giant merchants can do this, this will get more people to adopt into bitcoin much faster.

More people pay attention to btc's price and buy in btc when they think there is bargain price. They will tend to pay with btc or save it.

btw, i see this post on slickdeals.net... and a lot of people still seem to be negative against bitcoin. they're calling it a ponzi scheme, even though newegg and other major retailers are accepting btc. there are still a lot of resistant people who remain firmly unconvinced.

The discount seems nice, probably they are trying to make money from the recent price falling and expect to rise higher.

This is absolutely the best news we can get.

The only way for adoption to grow, would be for merchants, who accepted BTC as payment method, to offer incentives and discounts like this.

As a merchant, you cannot simply state that they accepted BTC as a payment method, and wait for adoption to grow by itself.

The consumer needs to have access to a BTC ATM  {Without BTC he cannot buy anything} This MUST be a easy and fast process.
The payment with BTC must be easy and fast.
The fees must be lower than tradisional payment methods. {Credit cards / Fiat / Debit cards}
There must be something, to motivate the consumer, to switch to BTC payment. {Discounts}

If only one of these things fail, the consumer will not adopt the BTCcurrency and then you would find, that the hoarders, will be spending their coins, and the price of BTC will drop, because of the over supply of bitcoins, on the exchange side. {The demand will only increase, once more new people adopt BTC and wants to buy it}

Newegg has succeeded in finding a great way of doing this, and I applaud them for that.  Grin Grin Grin

17% discount when comparing to Amazon. Didn't know the profit margin for retail store is this high.

Sure it's good news that companies are doing this, but who wants to spend their coins at current value. They're worth around $100 less than what they were a week ago and much more if you go further back, so a little discount isnt going to sway me at the moment.

I miss those deals here in Brazil.
But anyway, this is really great to get the attention of anyone, to spend Bitcoins or to bring new people to understand and maybe even use Bitcoin.

Consumers can buy bitcoin at market value and then buy the ps4 at huge discount. This has nothing to do with hoarding and investing and hoping for higher price.

That's great. I think vendors are starting to realize the benefits of bitcoin over credit cards and traditional payment processors...

That's pretty swank. I'm so conflicted because I don't like consoles that much.

Doesn't have to be down to hoarding, but you could go buy $320 of coins and by the time you get them and try complete the purchase for the PS3 those coins are worth $300 and you're short and lost money. This is the problem for consumers but with merchants they just get the fixed price in fiat.
