What is this exactly?
Just wondering why someone would pay 9 BTC for this?

It is a Casascius Physical Bitcoin...loaded with 5 BTC.  People love these coins...just google them and see why.  They have a ton of collector value and never sell for face value..

More info on Casascius coins here: http://www.spotcoins.com/casascius

And as noted by Blazedout, these are highly sought-after collectors' items. All Casascius coins are pretty rare by most sovereign-coin collecting standards, but the issues with mintage under 1000 (like the one in this thread) even more so.

Bitcoin is the first monetary system to credibly offer perfect information to all economic participants.
