PRAGUE: The Czech Republic launched its answer to Bitcoin on Tuesday (Aug 19) when new virtual currency CzechCrownCoin started trading.

"Early this afternoon we put a first test run of 100,000 coins on the market," CZC project head Ladislav Faith told AFP. "The total number of coins has been set at 100 million."

I asked it before and I ask again: Why the world needs so many coins? How do they plan to provide liquidity for themselves? BTC takes probably 90% of all trades and I think it would be only better for everyone if people concentrate on BTC and stop creating their little private coins.

The world doesn't need this many coins but it isn't going to stop people from creating them and trying to make money off them. People just need to stop buying into them or dealing with them and they'll stop being made, but there's too many greedy idiots around.

So I take it this is just another crappy alt someone has created and it isn't like an official currency of Czech Republic or anything? It wouldn't surprise me if a smaller nation tried creating their own digital currency at some point but i doubt it'll be decentralized.
