To those who are saying I wasted water:
I own my own water well, I did the icebucketchallenge while standing right over the well. As you are aware, the water cycle would dictate that this water, which came from this part of the ground, will return to this part of the ground and as such is not wasted. Any little bit that would have evaporated would have been negligible as the humidity was near 100%.
I would love to help kids in africa get clean drinking water, but I do not think it is financially viable to do so by bottling water here and shipping it across the ocean. The increased usage of diesel fuel from cargo ships carrying the bottled water would also contribute to the global warming we are all so concerned about.
If you're worried about clean drinking water in Africa, there are many ways to help people out in Africa. Including by donating for clean water wells, desalinization plants, filtration systems, and other devices to gather clean water.
So as you can see, I do not believe I have wasted any water as it came from the ground right where I dumped it on my head, and went back in to the ground right where I dumped it on my head.
Man, that was a long intro
Heh yeah it was, but I've seen longer ones. I figure it was best to let people know about matching grants before the actual ice gets dumped on my head, rather than afterwords (since people are more likely to listen to what someone has to say before they dump the water).
Sometimes the challenge can ends very badly:

Yeah, those are kinda funny though. The number of youtube hits are well worth the bucket of water I'd bet.
Someone should challenge Satoshi
Technically, I did.
