I have a 2 GB RAM server with Linode. I do run a production website off of it. Is it possible to run mining software from this VPS in the background and also have it not conflict with the needs of the website?

If so, I have no idea how to mine. Any links that would point me in the right direction for what I'm looking would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

Profits will be very low - it is not worth it. You can only get reasonable income when mining with high-end ATI video cards. So forget it.

And I'm guessing they will charge you an arm and a leg for using up their processing power.

No, they'll just close your account.  Resource abuse is a standard item on any legitimate provider's Acceptable Use Policy.
