So here is an update...not much progress but atleast they are still responding.  I urge anyone interested to email viphelp@grooveshark.com to ask about accepting bitcoin.  I informed them about the bit-pay and mtgox's commerce api.  I'm not the best at writing emails detailing why bitcoin would be a great implementation...so any of you concise/eloquent users willing to email them...i say go for it!

In my response to them I did simply direct them to check out bitpay and the fact that mtgox plans on doing something similar.  Again, if anyone is willing to eloquently explain how bitpay works to them it would be much appreciated!

Not only are we able to manage the exchange for them, but we can provide detailed accounting reports of the sort that would be needed in any kind of financial audit of revenues should that be necessary (including detailed real time exchange rates at the time revenue is recognized).  This is very important for many companies considering Bitcoin as a payment option.

I didn't honestly realise you guys did this. Will have to look into accepting bitcoin through some of my day-to-day business as that clears up the major problem I'd had until now...

Good news on grooveshark too! I maintain that for organisations that tend to have issues with major payment methods, bitcoin could be a blessing - can you imagine if allofmp3 had been able to use it before they shut down?

UPDATE:  they have still been responding to my emails, I have been keeping them updated on mtgoxs new Magento integration and i think i'm making progress.  I encourage any grooveshark users to send them an email to show how bitcoin can be a good thing for them.

it's kind of like pandora to a certain extent.  the website is free with occasional adds.  or you can pay a fee for no adds + a mobile app with unlimited storage

I just checked on the Bitcoin Wiki, there is nothing under "merchant solutions" (which looks scary, by the way), nor "shopping cart interfaces."

The obvious concern is that great, functioning, and simple things like this one do not get exposure they deserve. It'd be a shame if bitcoin fizzled out because of problems of this kind. The network is there, tested and tried. Solutions like Paysius are also there, and there are more coming, but potential new users have a hard time finding out about them.

To be fair, Spotify also has offline saving and you can upload your own songs and I am pretty sure it has a larger library than grooveshark.

Although I don't think Spotify has been as awesome to their customers for asking about bitcoin.

Instead of asking businesses if they will accept Bitcoin it might be more successful to ask if they will accept Paysius or Bit-Pay. Doing a quick Google search for those terms is going to get the merchant to the relevant information they need a lot more quickly than a search for Bitcoin.

we have been emailing each other every other week.  i have introduced bit-pay paysius and the new mtgox merchant API.  I have linked them to a reddit posting i made about how i have been in contact with grooveshark and the potential with overwhelming support as well as this thread.  i've done everything I can but I feel they just do not understand the potential or are just not willing to even take a look at it....

i have been trying to talk to the coders directly but will have to do some more investigating on who exactly that is because this person will not give me their direct email address.  maybe you guys could help me out do some researching?

and again... email them.  tell them you would pay for their service in bitcoins.  grooveshark seems to really be pushing for some subscription services.  if they get enough emails perhaps it will get past this supposed VIP help desk employee and to the actual coder.

I wouldn't really call it annoying emails.  I was very careful about how I approached it and we actually were engaged in some constructive email exchanges.  I'm thinking they either spoke with or more likely just browsed bit-pay or something and just didnt understand it.  I approached mtgox, and bit-pay and they said they would love to talk to grooveshark.  Perhaps this is the CEO they are talking about....

I use Grooveshark everyday and love it so much. I also really would love to have this on my phone, but I refuse to pay for a premium account with Paypal or Creditcard.

The point for them is that there's no possibility of chargebacks (I bet that alone will be a big deal) and relatively modest payment processing fees (presuming they use bitpay or something similar).
When speaking to merchants about this kind of thing before the "no chargebacks" thing is the one thing that really grabs their interest.
