I'd highly recommend familiarizing yourself with the specifics of each issue and the associated risks. they should each have a thread here. Just do a search for [GLBSE] to find.

senbonzakura has a nice thread on dead/stale/scam assets vs. "safe" issues - I presume by "safe" he means valid, issued by known named, or known pseudonomous persons, and in business today.  (not "safe" as in "risk free")

you gotta love unregulated bitpenny stocks! probably high risk, but super fun, and who knows how profitable they could be?! - actually if you do your research, there are some undervalued mining stocks that carry less inherent risk than investing directly in BTC now.
