This is the most pointless thread ever.

Cryptopaths is an expert troll.

I don't know whether he is a troll. He is telling logically. We usually call other coins as ALTs but it can be used vice versa too though it isn't really possible. Both YES and NO for the statement is true in a different way of thinking. Roll Eyes Smiley

"Alt"coin means Alternate from bitcoin.
Why is the bitcoin doesn't called as Altcoin? Because Bitcoin is the first Cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin is an altcoin to Peercoin and Peercoin is an altcoin to Bitcoin.

Do all of you understand what "alt" means? It stands for alternate.

So when shown some new technology in crypto I get annoyed when people go, oh it's just another alternate.

Bitcoin is also an alternate to other technologies.  I hate how all of you are acting like the current bitcoin protocol is the end all be all project in the crypto scene. Satoshi brought true innovation and all of you are acting like there can't be any more for some reason.

So please next time something innovative is made don't just go, oh that's just another altcoin. Actually use your heads and look at the technology for what it's worth.

This idiotic thought process that some of you posses is exactly why a lot of you and a lot of people didn't get in early on Bitcoin. Because when faced with something new your underdeveloped/underpowered brains don't know how to process everything and you immediately call scam or fail on what you can't understand.

The name of the topic made me sad. But i'm still waiting for an interesting discussion.

Bitcoin is the Cryptocurrency.
All the others are Alternative Cryptocurrency.  Wink

The one who created the original system is the original cryto as Sampey and others have said
The rest of them are alt-coins if they use the same types of codes to resolve the double spending problem.

That said what we can define is a non-btc Variant would not be an altcoin
Bitcoin based vairants are altcoins

cryptopath the under 18yo kid that doesnt think before he posts, has yet again started another topic that has no purpose but to make him look worse then people already believe he is.

..  mods please lock these boring and pointless topics that make no sense and offer nothing insightful
Well, if you take a look at all the threads that he started, most are pretty nonsense.
Satoshi was murdered, evidence coming in?  Roll Eyes
The first statement doesn't make sense at all. Bitcoin was first, anything that comes after is an altcoin, end of story.
You can deny it as much as you'd like but it's hopeless.

Will Satoshi reappear to save Bitcoin?
Why does Bitcoin need saving?

This is exactly right. The reason altcoins are called altcoins is because they are alternative coins to bitcoin. They are always inferior to bitcoin as their network security is much weaker (lower hashrate). To say that bitcoin is an altcoin is like saying that bitcoin is an alternative coin to itself.

Bitcoin is an alternative, but NOT to Peercoin. It's an alternative to fiat money. The word alternative means that it was thought as another solution to a current problem. When Bitcoin was created, Peercoin didn't even exist, so logically it can't be an alternative to that.

An economy based on endless growth is unsustainable.

Altcoins are majorly used by people who are:
1) Fans of that coin
2) Daytraders
3) Bots
4) Holders/investors/"hopers"

Conclusion: bitcoin is master coin

IT IS A NICE TRY...

but honestly when you come on here and have a rant about how bitcoin is an alt coin is not true. the alt part of it is talking about how other coins copy and paste their source code from bitcoin or take most of it or some of it and just tweak it. there is a reason bitcoin is at the top and all the others are at the bottom right now.

I really don't understand the logic behind the OP either. Bitcoin will always be superior to other altcoins because of the strength of it's network.

Bitcoin was the first coin, bitcoin is the king. So all reference will be made with BTC. Its not an actual alternative, but relative.
