will the next "whatsapp" originate from a virtual company on bitcointalk?

the difference is all these other companies that have tried and failed are centralised or traditional companies.. you have to take into the account the costs of a centralised company apposed to a decentralised virtual company.. costs are rock bottom in comparison.. then you have to take into account that nxtty app will be fully cross platform with ios andriod, windows desktop and soon windows phone. their plan is also to go for the wearables market as in i watch and andriod wear and google glass.. also, the encryption method uses the blockchain to encrypt messages so as far as i know, it would be far far more secure.. even the company wont have the encryption codes to unlock messages.

perhaps it wont take down whatsapp.. but they are charging head first for a large market share in the encrypted messaging/calling arena.. the fact that they have their own cryptocurrency token to use within their platform means they may be able to do some very interesting things.. the app has the ability to also transmit value by using the currency as a core part of their application.. so once the app takes hold, transmission of value can also be enabled in the app opening up vast opportunities not yet foreseen.

the currency they use is considered as ownership of the company also. so say you own 1% of the currency.. and the company sells the app for 1 million dollars.. you would get 1% of the proceeds of the app, i assume in the form of cryptocurrency.

its a very interesting and promising prospect to say the least.

well they are targeting people from outside crypto. users who know little or nothing about crypto and along the way slowly educate them. how,, i dont know.. i know they have >10k followers on facebook many from india and surprisingly many from Malaysia and other aisian places..

I guess some people here are familiar with CryptoCurrencyCollectorClub, which is a well moderated ( no sunglass spamers, ads, referal links ... ) and well documented place.

Quite a lot of people back there (myslef included) do believe that, as far as CryptoCurrencies are concerned, these types of early crypto/social/messaging solutions ( which in NXTTY and GEMS are pioneers in ) might be one of the best ways to get 'mainstream users' interested in monetizing "social rewards" ( Followers, friends, posts, tips )
Which currently benefits to private companies trough advertisement contracts etc...

Right now, the App just got released @Android store, iOs shoul come in a couple of months, but you have to remember this app is trageting Asian/Chinese customers which have a practical interest in privacy and encryption, this is a very lage but quite risky market i guess.

Eventually they might be accepted as a part of a widely accepted alternative to centralized solutions that we have today ( Whatsapp, FB, Snapchat, Twitter ) Maybe this is one more step to total decentralisation ( Openbazaar ) which is think is cool.

Any experience with NXTTY ? What do you think about GEMS coming soon ?

If it happens it will be just through normal growth and popularity. So far people seem to love it, 4.6 average rating, and the first 100k people get 2500 free coins, so that should eventually get a lot of users in.

I am big into cryptos and privacy, so I have already replaced my normal texting apps. It is good to be realistic about the odds of becoming a 19 billion dollar company, but then again, they made the app, people love it, so it isn't impossible.
