We decided against PoS mainly because we wanted to come up with a coin that most miners could easily adapt to.

Hence we forked Darkcoin, but as the OP mentions, this is a purpose made coin, and it can be forked once we find a new target for the donations and alter the mining rewards to gather funds quickly again if need be.

Feedback from the community and capable developers is always good to have. See you at launch!
