Is like the police setting up a speed camera and you getting a fine in the mail two weeks later. It does nothing about the speeding at the time you did it.
It would be helpful if you could know why someone voted you up or down. The current system is innefective in changing behaviour because you dont know wtf you did to deserve ratings.
If 10 trolls give you a negative rating wtf does that even mean ?
Id like to see who gave a rating and who rated other people. That is more important than seeing a pointless number count going up or down.
Take the bitcoin-otc for instance.....

Only people that already have 250+ inane posts can smite on the n000bs. Noagendamarket: great idea, the who-likes-who and who-dislikes-who should be public. At least then it serves a purpose. |

there's dicks everywhere, but the point of a forum is to get to know people.
really, if the admins want a good feedback/moderation/self-policing system, they should take a hard look at DailyKos - it's the best system i've ever seen in twenty years on the 'net.

If the +/- button was located on the user profile page it would be another story. In that case it should be obvious that one is rating the user and not the post. Still, a rating system without feedback is useless…
