Definitely "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" by Eric Bogle. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG48Ftsr3OI

Ooh, that is a good one.

I remember that song from Meet Joe Black.  In that movie it is very grim, but just listening to the song alone it's actually a little uplifting.

Yes i do. Great singer. not many people here would probably relate to her though.

LOL that's the lyrics to the song.

Vera (Waters) 1:38

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
Remember how she said that
We would meet again
Some sunny day?
Vera! Vera!
What has become of you?
Does anybody else here
Feel the way I do?

I remember Vera Lynn not a tribute to her.  Smiley I'll have to listen to the song you are referring to though.

What?! What?!  Shocked

You've never listened to the wall?

Go download the entire album. Songs from the wall should not be listened to in isolation.

wish you were here. I'll pay you for it if you post it on youtube. I have faith in you Dank.

Once I have a place to record, you got it.  Probably will only be singing the song though, until later down the road.

I think Unbreak my Heart by Toni Braxton is a particularly sad song
It helps if you have a voice like Toni to render the song, obviously

My Choice - Vera Lynn: The White Cliffs of Dover

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vera_Lynn

Quote
Dame Vera Lynn, DBE (born Vera Margaret Welch on 20 March 1917),[1] widely known as "The Forces' Sweetheart" is an English singer, songwriter and actress whose musical recordings and performances were enormously popular during the Second World War.

Holy shit! She's still alive at 97.

Hard to say what is the saddest song as I've never really thought about it, but there are parts of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody that are pretty sad, but I really love the song overal and the change in tempos.
