you must first dump priv key in the old wallet, then import in the new wallet.

My client is only showing about 20% of my coins but the block explorer lists the full amount. Is there a fix recommended for this issue?

dumpprivkey and importprivkey worked like a champ. all coins visible and useable (I think) now.  only getting 2 active connections with most recent conf info.   Are there nodes I do not know about or is this common atm?

Another way is just go to cryptopia's explorer and check the most updated nodes there.

That explains why my wallet won't sync.
No working nodes = dead coin.
