Sending it to a valid address is not by chance (although possible, but highly improbable). You obviously copied that address somewhere, or paid to that address in the past. Try to retrace your steps and every address you've ran across. There is a much higher chance of you getting it back if you went directly to the source to ask for it back, rather than sit here and wait for the owner of that address to stumble upon this thread by accident, then recognize that is his address.

I intended to send the btc to coinbase. Here is what I think happened. In coinbase clicked on receive money, clicked on get btc address, copy address, but copy address did not work and I pasted an address that was already on the clipboard (windows 7).

Do you know for sure that the address you had on your clipboard was for someone who is actually on this forum or would see this thread? You could be spending a whole chunk of time waiting for the person in question to see it. I would personally see if you can remember where you got the address from that was on your clipboard and see if you can contact that person themselves rather than wait, at least then you know your problem will be resolved quicker than sat waiting.

Definetely this address https://blockchain.info/address/1MA7CKbWMyKdPkmsbnwmfeLh1hYy5A3gy8
was used by somebody ~a year ago.
It is possible to say, that it was a miner (or miner pool) with significant hash power.

So why do you ask bitcoinforum to return your funds back?
You should ask coinbase support.

LOL.. If I received your coin, I will keep it. Or maybe give you half but mostly keep it. Ive done that already before, sending my coins to other address and yes they kept it. Ive made postings to return it too. The fact that the owner of the address is unknown, you got a lesser chance of getting it back.

But thats the exact same address you send the money to. I dont understand. Did you send the coins to where you were supposed to or did you send them to another address from your clipboard. If you send it to the one from your clipboard, what did you do before you made the TX?

I have asked coinbase, but their support is painfully slow.

any answer yet?

Its very unlikely that someone just mistypes an address. Due to the checksum at the end chances are OP either used the correct address and coinbase has problems or OP used an address from the clipboard that somehow ended there in the first place. You dont usually copy "random" bitcoin addresses from somewhere.

Sometimes its odd when you receive a TX that you do not expect, but in the end I allways figured out where to coins came from.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

You are most likely infected with coin-stealing malware. If you're using Google Chrome, remove any bitcoin-related extensions that you may have installed. You should also do a virus scan with a good virus scanner like Malwarebytes:

Giving me a negative trust? What a douchey move from you dude. Tsk..  Only *bleep* people do things like that. And you are one of them.  To think I am not even talking to you. Tsk tsk. Hey! Guys this Danny Hamilton guy is a douche giving me a negative trust rating and I was not talking to him. Your mom must be very proud of you. And yes,  I will never ever transact any BTC to you because you are a douchebag. No dayjob always posting here. Thinking he is cool because he can leave a negative trust rating WHUUUUT? Your still a douche.

lool from that post it seems a former ghash employee switched the mining address and got some free funds for several days

the last transaction on that address was 2013-09-30 10:00:03 nearly a year ago, looks like the op copied and pasted the wrong address and will be luky to get these back

Giving me a negative trust? What a douchey move from you dude. Tsk.. Only *bleep* people do things like that.

You know what's really a "douchey" move that only *bleep* people do?

Not giving back something that doesn't belong to them.

Hey! Guys this Danny Hamilton guy is a douche giving me a negative trust rating and I was not talking to him. And you are one of them.  To think I am not even talking to you. Tsk tsk.

You don't need to "talk to me" to be untrustworthy.  You get negative feedback for being untrustworthy.

Your mom must be very proud of you.

She is.  She raised me to have morals, ethics, to behave in a reliable, honest, and trustworthy manner.  Your mom must be very disappointed in you.

And yes,  I will never ever transact any BTC to you because you are a douchebag.

Name calling.  Yep that's a great way to convince others that you are honest, reliable, kind, and trustworthy.

No dayjob always posting here.

What makes a day job so much better than a night job? Do you even have a job?

Thinking he is cool because he can leave a negative trust rating WHUUUUT?

I don't need to be cool.  I'm just warning others so they are careful when dealing with someone that takes pride in planning to be a dishonest thief.

Your still a douche.

Perhaps.  I'm not sure why that matters.

I do not know the legislation in the country where you live.
In my country owning a watch and a wallet written in some kind of country laws.
Owning of bitcoins is not defined in laws. Nobody would care who is bitcoin owner.

So, there is not "same way".

Agreed.  The original post:
"I accidentally send 1.85 BTC to this wallet address  1MA7CKbWMyKdPkmsbnwmfeLh1hYy5A3gy8 Please return them. I thank you."

probably does not belong in "Technical Support".  Do you want to contact the moderator and let them know that they should move it to a more appropriate forum? Or shall I?

2) I am not sure that all 7 billion people on planet have the same moral and ethic as you and me. So, I do not speak for all.

Certainly, but if someone claims that they would not return something that was accidentally sent to them, then I am going to personally consider that person to be untrustworthy and will leave them feedback indicating such.

Informing others about the potential risk of transacting with someone is what the feedback system is for, isn't it?

You are wandering away from the topic that is being discussed here.

We are not talking about "laws" or how to define "ownership".

We are talking about the bitcointalk.org feedback system, its purpose, and whether or not a person that demonstrates themselves to be untrustworthy should receive negative feedback.

Please try to focus on the topic at hand to avoid meaningless debate about unrelated topics.

I do not see any additional risk here.
May be, contrary, I will trust the person who says his point of view. (OK, I do not like his words too. But he has a right to speach.)

Is it something like "centarlisation" in bitcoin network? The person who has more "hashing power" is able to dictate his principles

damn dude, thats not cool. just imagine it happens to you. it s important to also be able to trust the community

i would def. return them to the source if i receive an unexpected transaction. and i hope that the majority of the BTC
users do the same.

to the OP: send a micro-tx to the addy and provide your e-mail addy or URL of this thread (tx-comment). maybe that helps..

I think those coins are off in never to regain unless ya happen to stumble upon that priv key as that addy has not been used in a year.... doubt the owner even has key for it any more.... good luck though,

AFAIK, there is little chance for you to get it back,
but good luck.
