I just got 4 more of these. Since i have so many i decided to put together another computer. They run 1050/300, temps 60, fans 35%, hash 285, no extra volts.

this makes no sense

#1, i had 7 of these and none were stable at 1050/300.   the highest was 1030/300

#2, the temp would not be 60oC with the fan at 35% unless you had an ambient temperature of 15oC and/or some big ass industrial fan blowing right into the case

#3, i get 325mhash at 1000/300

Every chip is different. Out of the 4 that im using every one does 1050. Im even thinking about trying for more cause they do 1050 with no problem. With some extra volts they might clock higher.

Where i live has been 40-50F the last few days. Im also mining caseless with risers and plenty of space between each card.

I wish i was getting 325 hash but i am getting 285.

1025gpu/300memory/1.163v is what i start at, will do 325megahash on BAMT, out of 7 extreme 5830 have only seen one that would only be stable at 1015 most will do 1040, its got to be a driver or bad miner flags to be that low

if your using windows I use guiminer and phoenix with phatk2 with similar results

OK so i have been using poclbm since i started mining and i have never tried another miner. I just tried CGminer and noticed some big changes in my hash. I run them at 1000/300 and was getting around 275K. With cgminer im getting 300K. I like cgminer so far im gonna try for 1060.

I always use the latest. I have tried a few older versions and never noticed any improvement.

I didnt see any gains with 11.1 vs 12.3. Two of my cards run at 1060 with no volts. Hash is 325K. Temps around 65 and fans 55%.

yeah its really hard to totally revert the drivers maybe someone else has figured out the trick, I've just started from scratch when I found out 12 didn't work as well. I think it has something to do with the sdk version they install but I'm not sure

Any ideas why windows wont detect a 5th gpu? I tried 12.3 11.12 and 11.1 with no luck.

Are these new, refurbed, used? 25 BTC is a little high for the 5830 market right now. You can buy a used one for $100-110 (~21 BTC) on Ebay. I grabbed one for $92 with free shipping. I'd consider buying one off you for 20 BTC. But I don't really know how buying/selling works on the forum. Or how to avoid scamming. Do you have any references? Assuming all goes well, I'd consider buying a 2nd off you.

Refurbs from newegg. They are under warranty. I have the receipt. $120 is my price. To avoid getting burned use escrow or buy from people with rep. I have references for good sales.

oh, that makes more sense

i guess whatever you were using before probably wasnt aggressive enough... maybe using 85% of GPU or something,  that would keep the temps down some

Quote
-k phatk2 VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP=false AGGRESSION=13 WORKSIZE=256

i've noticed when i put the cards above aggression 9, it starts using a good amt of CPU cycles for just minimal gains in hash rate...    if I have three 5870's at agg 12, it actually lowers their performance (100% CPU usage).. if I have three 5870's at agg 9, the cpu usage is like 1 or 2%...  agg 10 would be about 20%.   though i've never tested the actual power draw and whether it's more efficient or not

anyway, i've been using some old dual core CPUs I had, w/ one core disabled and the other one underclocked and undervolted..  maybe if you have a better CPU, it wouldnt be so bad.
