We all knew this was coming after the thrashing that GTX 680 gave to AMD's inferior gaming cards ...

Doubt it. The 7990 will be the top card until NVIDIA releases either a larger monolithic die or a GTX 690 or w/e with a pair of GTX 680 dies. Top card receives a top price and bows to nobody.
