Imagine… a telecommunications company that prioritizes privacy over profits. The Calyx Institute is poised to turn this prospect into reality by launching the first not-just-for-profit telephone and Internet service as part of its research into privacy technology. Calyx's charter directs it to use all legal and technical resources available to protect the rights of its constituents and customers.
Activities include:

Promoting 'best practices' with regard to privacy and freedom of expression within the telecommunications industry
Conducting research into privacy technology for the Telecommunications and Internet Provider industries
Providing a ‘test bed’ environment for the development and deployment of secure voice, data and mobile services
Legal advocacy and defense
Calyx is seeking start-up funding and needs your support!

Sounds amazing! An ISP thats so committed to customer privacy that its network is designed in such a way that its impossible to track anything they do!

But do know they are describing launching a commercial service.  Not that doing so is bad, but don't confuse "non-profit" with "non-commercial".   They might not even be a non-profit, as their About page reads: "launching the first not-just-for-profit telephone and Internet service"
