Hi

I just received my two S3 miners, and will start it in few days.  I wanted to check what will happen in these scenarios:

1.) If i connect to a pool, and for some reason i got disconnected from the internet, and got reconnected...what happens?
2.) what mining pool would you guys recommend?

1) It should start mining again.
2) If you look up network hashrate you will see what pools are bigger.  Yes P2P is probley better for community, but majority use pools I believe.

Depends on which mining software you're using. Usually it should automatically reconnect you to the pool and continue mining. Minor outages can occur everywhere, so it is expected that you may be offline for a minute or so.
Yeah, p2pool is a good idea, you should support that. Bitminter is also a good and very easy to use pool. Please stay away from GHash.IO their pool is too big. We need to keep it as small as possible!

I should have gotten into Bitcoin back in 1992...

Part of the reason for backup pools is downtime.  If you lose a pool it will go to next.   If you use just one pool it not the best setup.

If you actually read what he is talking about, he's asking what happens if his internet connection goes down. As far as I know, there aren't any pools that you can use as backup in case his internet connection goes down.

the s-3 is like a god.  why do I say this.  it resurrects itself  from a power outage when power turns on it auto boots.
it also auto boots if the net drops when the net comes back.  finally it auto switches 3 different pools if any pool you are mining crashes it does the next pool.

here is a pair of miners I have
they are at my buddies office. I set them and I forgot them they mine and mine and mine and mine.  I do not a thing to them. I have not been to his place since aug 14th.  He had 2  blackouts, the miners turned off  then when power came back  they rebooted.
these are batch 1 and have been mining since  July. zero fuss and muss since July 28 went back and looked no adjustments made from july 23rd to today. not bad.

Why would you wait a few days before starting? Don't you know that most of your earnings are at the start. Any delay will erase whatever (very) slim chance you have of making a profit.

if you got disconnected then all your shares become stale and the time for being you are disconnected will also give you loss if you do not have nay backup pool. But if there is problem with your service provider then you cant do nothing and you will be in loss at that time.

When you say p2pool, which one do you mean?  When i read the sticky guide of mining pools, there are too many p2pool listings.
