No sense for now. Maybe there will be some sense when 10+ core models of Xeon v3 CPUs will be released. P.S.

The performance scale in Multi-threaded Software are gorgeous. Basically, Core i7-5960X faster for 150-180% than FX-8530, and about 90-100% than Corei7-4790K.
In games - there is no difference between Core i7-4790k and Core i7-5960X. It's about 1-3%.

Your GPU sucks Maybe, but the only DIrect3D application here is Windows Aero. RAM overkill. I wouldn't be so sure about that... Virtualization and Solidworks are the main purposes for now.

Entry Level — 6 cores, 12 threads, 15 мb cache, 28 lines PCI-Express, will cost to us - 1350$ Premium Level — 6 cores, 12 threads, 15 мb cache, 40 lines PCI-Express, will cost to us - 1600$ Extreme Level — 8 cores, 16 threads, 20 мb cache, 40 lines PCI-Express, will cost to us - 2180$
I can buy 3 computers like mine one for the price of one Extreme Level. You right when you say prices are high.

Wonder if those run crazy hot, probably have better than usual coolers to go with them.

Ah well if you're using it for such things then it is not. Upgrade to 64gb Yeah unless there is an Atom series this isn't useful for you. Maybe wait for next gen CPUs (14nm)?

The Intel 5960X is pricey, 1000$ I think the main advantage of the new systems is that they are more efficient so less heat imo. But im gonna wait for the prices to go a bit down before i upgrade plus i am waiting for the Nvidia 900 series, they skipped the desktop 800 series. btw check out the Asus Rampage V http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_V_EXTREME/

I'll be getting the 5960X but just to go with my overkill build I realize there's no practical use, but I'm already doing a massive custom loop so I might as well

Actually not. With a good water cooling at 4.5 Ghz - 62-65c. With AirCooling - 80-85c at same clock speeds. All clue in thermal alloy between die and thermal cover of CPU.

i don't use my CPU for anything intensive, so i think i'm content with my AMD 8320 set for now. i spent $70 buying a 7770 radeon 2 years ago and i hardly play games.. so wasn't worth it.

Yes. They are extremely good in CPU mining. 1x Core i7 5960x gives 120 Mh\s in Scrypt. Build the system and give us a value response about this.

You can buy two 12 core xeon CPUs and 2P motherboard instead of this "extreme" crap. And after that you will have some money for weekend. I don't see a point other than playing games with it lol
I don't see any point even for games.

i think i'll go with i7 5820k or maybe just stay with 4970k because of all the upgrades necessary for the x99 chipet, new board, new ram,no money plus quad core is sufficient in gaming, and octa core is overkill except if you're into editing or mining.
