Thinking out loud

what does everyone think about a coin that acts as a rewarded to people who run an open guest network on their router?

The more internet or users the host gives away the more coins they make.

i don't think is legal to run an open guest network...

there must will be some control of the users...

Proof of Altruism is certainly a cool idea for coin minting. There might be too many technical and practical issues in the way of the public hotspot use case, though. Like I wouldn't share my connection because whatever is done by any anon user on it would get blamed on me by my ISP.

I proposed a basic simple version of this a long time ago.

a mobile device on a mesh network , but with  "on ramps" that were company sponsored around cities

the idea was to basically give the handset out at cost and this would provide the mesh network - with "on ramps" connecting peer hubs.

revenue could be generated from a number of ways once the "free" network is viable.

a "block-chain aspect" could just provide end to end encryption also extra incentive.

it would be feasible, not going to work in a police surveillance state but.
