True. The eBay Forum mods are quite particular, as I've noticed when making an offhand comment about alternative auction sites. Maybe they just don't want eBay users to know that there are alternatives.

if any of you sell services, would any of you mention a competitor that can do something better, faster and cheaper?

its to be expected that you wont see pepsi advertising coke.
its to be expected that you wont see Apple advertising samsung.

what you need to learn is a more subtle way to mention it:

bad example
"i use openbazaar that is a better faster and easier auction site to use heres a link - "

good example
"i prefer ebay because its linked to my bank and my life, yet somewhere like openbazaar is fixed only to bitcoin"

(think reverse psychology)

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

That is such a waste of time, since most auction "competitors" have extremely low volume.
How good is openbazaar and does it have much activity?

Results of a monopoly i guess, not good for us.  As a seller on ebay the fees are half my profit currently and for these fees i get google ads & other advertising paid for my product and a platform to sell on.  All other treatment is sub par as a seller.  Ebay have it good.

I've managed to mention bitcoin a couple times in forums so that seems to be ok Smiley.

I'm not surprised at all. How would you react if competitors advertise on your website? So I don't think for this case that eBay is more evil than any other company.

What gets me really upset is the arbitrary fund freezing of their PayPal subsidiary.

However, given the expected success of Bitcoin and OpenBazaar, I think neither eBay nor PayPal (as an independet company) has a bright future.

It's not even fully functional at the moment and just seems to be testing. I'm sure ebay will just censor anything they don't like. Maybe they think openbiazaar is a ilegal site like Silk Road though?

They see a post that contains competition and they are really quick to delete it and take it away from the public eye. It really is a shame but I guess with any kind of big company such as eBay that will always be the norm for them ,especially if it means they can keep their users away from using alternatives.

I would do the same if I am the mod. Or..... I will figure out how to open my own bazaar.
Anyway there is always a silver lining.
