Obviously, these people are more concerned about activity than quality of posts.

How about no activity for the two week period?

i'm thinking that would be a bad idea. this place is already anti-establishment as it is, and if you were to enact an iron fist on the dummies (and they are dummies) who are complaining that their activity isn't moving up as they would like... there would be even more hatred and discontent towards the mods.

if i were a staff/mod, i think the biggest challenge for me is to deal with all the stupidity going on in the forums  Cheesy

Activity really doesn't matter all that much. I mean, seriously. The only annoying thing about activity is when you have the 360 positing limit. The second that limit goes away, you shouldn't really care about activity.

Then again, a newbie, you shouldn't be positing a ton unless you're a special snowflake that actually understands what's going on. Then again, if you know what's all going on, you're probably a ban evader.

I guess it is better point them to the topic where everything is answered then close the topic.
Much unecessary posts in such topics.

disagree. your activity level determines the pay rate you get for campaigns. plus if you're a high ranking person, people will probably trust you a little bit more; it doesn't make you truswrothy, sure, but at least you've been around for a long time.

if a newbie account signed up and offered me a sig campaign rate higher than primedice, i'd still stick with primedice.

Signature campaigns aren't a core feature of this forums. I could create a signature campaign for "Total time logged in" and adjust rates accordingly.
All activity gives you is a shiny coin and bragging rights.

Honestly, if you're ONLY trying to raise your activity for higher payouts in signature campaigns, you're not producing quality content.

signature campaigns may not be the core feature of this forum, but that doesn't matter. it's still a feature. no one uses "total time logged in" for pay scales.

and no one said anyone ONLY wants activity levels just so they can get higher payouts from signature ad campaigns.. but you know what? i turned 252 activity yesterday, and had i been at 238 activity only, i wouldn't have even made the cut, since the current campaign im participating in is only allowing in senior level members.

all said and done, having as much freedom as feasibly possible should be a goal for this forum.. and ruling with an iron fist is going to do the opposite and get a lot of people pissed off.

I agree that this is all driven by the higher pay rates the signature sponsors offer.  The good news is that these are getting harder and harder to come by as it appears the economics just don't work well for the sponsors.  Primedice has greatly cut back their program as have most others, if they have not ended them already.

I don't think a suspension is justified from activity for whining about it.  The posts are annoying, I agree, just use ignore.

Your rank gives your privileges about your signature and other stuff that are central to the forum.
You may find it useless, but don't try enforce it to everyone under the pretext that those who think different are spammers or something.

Are you being that transparent? If the only reason you're bitching about activity is you aren't getting paid more in a signature campaign, I think you should be banned honestly. Signature campaigns are nice for a tiny bit of extra income for posts that you ALREADY do. When I was part of primedice and updown.bt's campaigns, my posting remained steady.

If you're REALLY only posting / wanting to post to join a signature campaign, then wow, just wow. I'm fairly sure those who run the campaigns would agree with me.

I don't think that should happen. Most of the people who ask that question are Newbies that just didn't read anything. That doesn't necessarily make them a spammer. It should be more like, 'Not spammer unless proven guilty'. That sounds crazy to just go and do that. It's not really the most major problem on BitcoinTalk.

It's not like it's a ban or anything. It may teach them to read rather than randomly post. It's ONLY a 14 day period, seriously. You can go without activity for a whole two weeks man.

i'm glad you're not a moderator. someone with zero tolerance (and demands people do everything their way) will usually end up alienating a lot of people.

I'm glad I'm not a moderator either. Dealing with so many idiots on a daily basis would be rather bad for my health. The only reason I currently remain sane is that I truly believe half the forum is just trolling.

This is a perfect idea to piss off newbies that are simply confused and want to ask about it, lossing a lot of potential new users.  Roll Eyes

I don't think that would be a good idea and mod will do it. Many are telling to change the current activity system. They want to reach higher level in much easier way and then, they want to earn BTC through campaigns. So 'activity freeze' will be bad idea. Asking about activity doesn't mean that the person isn't posting quality contents. Smiley

No need to punish the Newbie users for not knowing how the activity works

But what about punishing them for not searching or at least not checking the first page of this sub where there is usually at least two threads answering their queries?

That's a fair reason, but there's no need for it, believe me I've got expirience in running a forum board.
