Hi here, I am quite a newbie in the Bitcoin ecosphere but nevertheless I am enthusiastic about Bitcoin.

Just to learn how the environment works I've started a new faucet site at http://pinktussy.com. It's based on a microfaucet template, so don't expect any great optical or functional experience. Just collect up to 1000 Satoshi every 15 minutes.

I would like to know how the economics of a Bitcoin faucet sites works. I'll give of course Feedback.

Any feedback is of course appreciated, thx to the community.  Smiley

Just in case somebody might be interested. I opened the faucet site because of my interest in the economics of it. I'll report my experience to share that with others or to get feedback.

  • I use a microfaucet template with Neon theme, installation was really simple and straight, even for a newbie
  • got help from the guys from www.landofbitcoin.com, thx to them. Had a few troubles with the Captcha;
  • opened http://pinktussy.com on friday, 5th September 2014 afternoon.
  • deposited 9 Mio Satoshi in my microwallet account
  • average payout is now 215 Satoshi every 15 min
  • registered on www.landofbitcoin.com with an E-Mail to the guys (listing just 1,5 hours after my E-Mail, once again great response)
  • so far (it's now 6th Sept noon) roughly 2,9 Mio Satoshi have been paid out via microwallet
  • the site received appr 43.000 Page Views so far, 72 Clicks on Google AdSense resulting in USD 25 ad income on Google AdSense (so far the site works with Google AdSense only but that will Change in the near future)
  • most of the traffic on the site is coming from Russia and US

So, thats it for now. Hope I didn't bore you with that stuff. If so, pls simply ignore it  Wink.
Have a nice Weekend!

Hi there,

as I've got a few requests to share a bit more stats and information after one month of operation of our faucet http://pinktussy.com I am glad to to this. Here are our findings for Sept 2014.

  • Over the course of the first week we payed out roughly 7.5 mio Satoshi p.d. and had ad income of around EUR 40 - 50 p.d.
  • The next week we increased the payouts to 12.5 mio Satoshi (plus 50 percent) and the ad income increased just slightly to somewhere between EUR 50 - 55 p.d, gross margin decreased.
  • The week after we decreased the payout to 6 Mio Satoshi p.d. (minus 50 percent)  and the ad income income felt to somewhere between EUR 40 - 50 p.d. but our gross margin increased.
  • a falling Bitcoin price is - of course - good for gross profit and vice versa an increasing Bitcoin price negatively inflects gross profit
  • We are still experimenting but so far our conclusion is that it doesn't really pay off to increase the payout amounts in terms of gross profit.
  • the CTR climbed continously over the month
  • total Page Views for Sept were somewhere around 1.9 Mio
  • the Domain www.pinktussy.com climbed to a ranking of around 210.000 on alexa.
  • from time to time we are experiencing troubles (time lags of a few hours before credited) when transfering Bitcoins to the microwallet, i.e. we are not able to make payouts (which is right now the case). In this case we usually send E-Mails to the guys of www.landofbitcoin.com and they react with great response time (thx). Would be great if we could transfer more than the 0.15 BTC which is unfortunately the limit right now. Would make life easier.
Conclusio so far - running a small faucet is quite interesting if you have plans that go beyond the mere faucet. To run a faucet could be a good marketing vehicle to promote your website and your domain. You need some money to pre-finance the payouts, some time to cover the operation and that's it.

We plan to open a small Bitcoin lottery in the course of October and - of course - we will share our experience with you.

Feel free to ask questions, Bluechipper

Blue,

You should try to use adbit.co to boost a little your revenue since with your daily views u can get easily 0.005 daily.

That would relieve a little the amount of btc paid.

You are completely right - we will use adbit.co very soon. It's just because we are new to the Bitcoin ecosphere and we already have experience with Google AdSense.

Acutally I forgot to mention the revenue from solvemedia (captcha) where we earned nearly $ 136 with 2,1 mio impressions in September.

And we, too, have not worked with referral systems so far.

So, yes, there are obviously many other sources of income which we forgot.

Thx to all of you for your hints  Smiley Smiley You're great!!

Kind regards, Bluechipper

If you do something like a lifetime referral i would be glad to advertise your faucet =D.

And how you got that amount at solvemedia?

i have like 7 k views daily and my cpm is always less than 0,01 per day.

Public thanks for your sharing and openness. It's difficult to find such high quality stats about faucets.

....and of course, added to our faucet list Wink

First - thx for your Support and feedback.

As announced we are experimenting with a kind of lottery whereby Bitcoin addresses are used as lottery tickets. Here is the site:
http://coins.pinktussy.com.

We opened the site on sunday, Oct12, 2014 and we promoted it via our faucet site http://pinktussy.com. Here are the background information on this "lottery experiment":

  • We are using WordPress as our technology basis, we host the site at 1&1 in Munich
  • We use (slightly modified) Wordpress plugins to collect E-Mail and Bitcoin address data and to work with them
  • We co-operate with http://random.com to make the weekly draws
  • The total payouts per week are around 0,7 BTC
  • Within the first 2 days of the lotterey roughly 980 visitors registered for a ticket and we had roughly 2.200 Page Views
  • Ad income - so far - is nearly zero as we have not registered the site at portals like www.landofbitcoin.com and we, too, have not promoted it so far. We used a link on our own faucet site to get into the Bitcoin ecosphere. We wanted to avoid a breakdown of our Website.
  • What I can say so far - it's key for Ad income to work with Portals like www.landofbitcoin.com and Newsletter publishers like www.bitcoinalians.com

So, that's it for the first 2 days. Any feedback from you is highly appriciated. I'll keep you informed about the progress. Pls don't hesitate to ask questions.

Kind regards, Bluechipper

The 250.000 jackpot is too big for the microwallet api. I'm pretty sure I won it, but got an error "invalid amount". I think that's because the prize is greater than the limit microwallet allows, which is 200.000. See https://www.microwallet.org/api . Hopefully you log those errors and can confirm, cause I don't have a screenshot Sad

So was I right, and did I lose the jackpot because of it?

what a shame! but you won something?
sometimes I solve captchas in some other taps and appear one not defined errors ...
and if I try again (soon after) gives no error and always has been, for the most part, the lowest premium.

No, I just got the error message "invalid amount", which probably means that the faucet tried to send an amount that was not allowed by the microwallet api, which would be something less than 1 satoshi, or greater than 200K satoshi, which is why I think I won, but just didn't get any satoshi.
