Just a hint: if you actually want to use flash, it might be worth to take a look at Haxe:

http://haxe.org/

It's a real OO language, and you can create flash, javascript and also various other languages from your code, so the app would run not only in a browser, but also on smartphones etc.

My code was inspired by the old Atari Combat game. I like the old retro stuff:
