Lately I noticed posts by users like LakeBTC [1] who post [2] an article (quoted and with source) someone else wrote [3] and have a rented signature or are (in)directly involved with the company advertised in their signature. In this example LakeBTC apparently is the official account for lakebtc.com. If you check that users history [4] of posts you will notice that these are a significant amount of the total posts made.

I dont know how this is called honestly. Would it be music Id have to pay royalties and AFAIK this also applies to texts (books, articles) and other forms of media content.

Now, one could argue that noone with a paid signature would be able to post about an intresting article or blog post anymore without that problem, but IMHO as long as you comment the article you made a contribution of original content towards the post. This however is laking in this case, its basically a copy pasta from a blog. The following discussion (if any) takes places without the OP.

Id like the know what the boards/admins/mods stance regarding this is.

My bets are that nothing will be done about this so it will be perfectly ok to copy/paste articles. And it should be pretty obvious why he does that: purely to advertise his exchange since every first post will make his sig more visible. The more "discussion" there are in the thread, the more the thread gets bumped, the more visibility his sig will be.

Yes its obvious and my usual reaction is to ignore those users. Yet other illegal activities are frowned upon and/or deleted. AFAIK this is illegal in most contries.

See, you'd think the same about pirated software and such, however there's tons of people selling pirated windows keys. Except they don't just come out and say "pirated". The forum's rules on illegal content are rather iffy.

I left him some feedback, it might make him change his habits (although I doubt it)

He probably will never notice your "untrusted" feedback lol, as he won't get a PM for it nor a change in his trust score.

The windows keys might as well be legit, hard to prove anything in that case.

While I appreciate the effort I doubt a neg. trust rating does anything. Im not sure if I want to use trust for that.

Anyway since both BadBear and theymos posted in this section after the topic was opened I assume they read it and dont want to take a stance on that. Might backfire should bloggers ever decide to take legal action.

Ill just continue to ignore those users and threads. IMHO its the best thing to do currently as they can only benefit from views/posts in those threads

People have actually been warned and even banned for copying and pasting articles before, especially when they're doing it frequently or almost constantly. It has been brought to the attention of Badbear at least so maybe he will handle it soon.

It's illegal to steal content from other websites in some countries so you should find that out first.

Others will notice it I can guarantee you that. Any any negative feedback makes a customer think twice about their next action with the user in doubt.
