That's what I am doing as well, the money I have in bitcoin is the amount that I can afford to lose. But I would love to see the "risk" to go away and potentially have 50/50. Maybe we'll see that in 3 years

As if you are getting in just now, I would say Bitcoin is a definitely a long term investment. If you are seeking a getting rich quick sort of scheme, that ship has already sailed for you. I am personally looking forward to seeing what happens when all Bitcoins are mined and buying them is the only way to get them.

My advices for people considering investing in Bitcoin are:

- Keep it simple; don't trust Bitcoin investment services or exchanges to store your Bitcoins. Store them encrypted offline on USB stick or paper wallet.
- Don't panic sell if price plummets. It will get back up in the future.
- Don't invest more than you can afford to lose.
- Make an investment plan a stick with it.

The simplest way would just to buy a bit of bitcoin with some spare cash every month and just the amount you are willing to gamble or risk. I disagree about 'diversification' into other alts from the article though. I very much doubt 99% of these other alts will be worth mcuh in the future and you'd be better sticking with just bitcoin.
