So I am on my third 7970 card.
The first two... rock solid, Liquid cooled and I can OC them for days.

I figured, I gotta get one more...
Ordered it from Provantage, When I put it in my rig, it doesn't seem to act as well as the first two...

But, I figured, I have it on fan cooling right now, I will wait to judge until I block it and run some blue juice through it.

All my cooling stuff is Koolance.
So I get my new block in, and take the new slightly broke in card apart, WOW!

The Rocket Surgeons at MSI left the clear tape on ALL the pads, it clearly says remove before using.

So the card that was acting crazy, (After I voided the warrentee by removing the heat sink) has the heat sink packing tape still attatched to the pads!!

Notice the Shrinkadink action from being overheated...

Really unhappy with this.

Aha, what dorks. Also looks like the thermal paste is glooped on like peanut butter as usual.

That is really ridiculous.  Get a bunch of ppl to send MSI emails to hassle them about this shockingly poor assembly.

One of my 7970 miners locked up. I also noticed it was running about 520MH/s @ 1070MHz.

It was an MSI. While there was no tape, the thermal paste job was horrible. Replaced it with Arctic MX-4 and everything is running as it should now.

If they are smart, they put a fragile "void if torn" sticker on one of the screws requires to hold the heatsink/fan assembly to the PCB itself. Don't know why they dont do that anymore, but all the better for us end-users.

Btw please post a higher resolution picture of the original post. Can't see anything, its WAY too tiny, like a thumbnail.
