Mining with a nvidia card and a i7.

I have recently stumbled upon the idea of bitcoin mining and I have 2 computers which I can mine with which specs are a i7-2600k and a 9800 GTX+ and a Q6600 OC to 3.0 with a OC GTX560Ti to a GTX570. I heard these spec's were rather bad to mine since its not AMD based and the CUDA software was out of date? If its possible to mine with Intel and Nvidia based cards and CPU where can I start. Thanks in advance.

It has nothing to do with CUDA; it is that nvidia does not optimize their cards for Integer Performance because Games and most other GPGPU applications are Floating Point Performance oriented.

If you pay for electricity, probably not. It would be cheaper and easier to simply buy the Bitcoins.

It is a question of cost of electricity vs BTC income. If you are spending more for electricity then buy BTC instead of Mining. If electricity is cheap and you have electricity efficient hardware (Low Watt per MHash/sec (or Joules/MHash)) then Mine.

I doubt it's profitable, especially after the difficulty increase coming today. Even a single 5850 would be ten times as energy efficient as the 9800.

Well, I used my spreadsheet (link in sig) to calculate your profits.  I did not include the processors, as mining with those is unprofitable at this point.  So, assuming a 40% rise in difficulty tomorrow, and 40% difficulty increases in the future, as well as assuming a 10% increase in BTC value every week, and also assuming electrical rates of $0.10/kwh, then....

In a month, you could expect to make $107.79 of BTC, if traded at the end of the month, and if current prices hold.
After fees ($4.93) and electricity ($33.12), your profit would be $69.74.

If you traded your Bitcoins into USD daily, through the Bitcoin --> SLL --> PPUSD process, you could expect a profit of $20.44, after fees and electricity.

This is with mining with both GPUs.

Electricity is covered in my area so it isnt a problem. I am also wondering is the Gpu is consistently running on 100%? Also it's not worth mining with a quad core CPU at all?

Yes, that's assuming 24/7 running with a 98% uptime.

No, it is not worth mining with a quad core if you pay for electricity.  Your average i7 makes about 15MH/s, and consumes 125w.  Your 570 makes about 110MH/s, and consumes 219w.  The i7 would lose money, unless your electricity is free (which, it sounds like it is).

So, may as well mine with it.  But it'll bring just a few dollars a month worth of bitcoins.

Yes, you'll just get pretty low hash rate, the GTX560 Ti  card will get like ~70mhash/s, my $70 5570 gets about that

In winter or whenever you need heating, you can mine with CPU, ELSE DONT. Also, you may not want to mine when your AC is running etc, if there is any cost of air cooling at all, it may just be better not to mine

I wouldn't worry bout mining with my CPU I am using a aftermarket cooler and I OC it so I ran prime 95 for over 10 hours stress testing it which means it is constantly at 100% and my temps stays at the low 30s-mid 40s. I am more worry bout my graphic card I stress test it and it peaked at 70 degree Celsius. Also I mention electricity isn't a problem. So any guides and tutorial to mine with a nvidia and intel gpu/CPU.
