If this actually takes off, the value of BTC will drop due to more fluidity.

That video is quite disturbing. Have they been hacked or something? I don't see why PayPal would be advertising bitcoin right now without having something in it or announced. It's a direct competitor to them.
They have no choice. They can reject bitcoin and die, or embrace it and survive. It's ALWAYS better to cannibalize your own profits than to have some competitor do it for you.

Blockbuster failed to learn that lesson in time. Looks like Paypal doesn't want to make the same mistake.

I've made that argument before, but my point is they haven't even implemented bitcoin yet. Seems silly to be advertising bitcoin before they've even got something in place. I also think it'll be a while before bitcoin is at the point where it's a threat to them, though I hope that does come sooner rather than later.

It's probably the beginning of a very carefully planned Public Relations / ad campaign wherein Paypal tries to maneuver themselves into the position of "trusted bitcoin service". They have hungry eyes on Coinbase / Bitpay's marketshare I'm sure.

That video is creepy, holy cow! It really looks like some cult Cheesy But to be honest, PayPal would be a great addition to Bitcoin, if it worked as a escrow service. It could protect people from being scammed and make Bitcoin just as safe as a Credit Card for the customer.

You don't have to use it if that's the case, just like you don't have to use Paypal. They're going to want some fee for their service that's for sure, but I'd rather have Paypal than no PayPal at all. Them adopting bitcoin will only be good for mass adoption regardless.

for sure, many people would know bitcoin if paypal announce it in his web
and it is always better a market with many alternatives than a monopoly, that makes a highly competitive market
