Recently got 0.00001 BTC randomly from Laxo Trade. I hadn't used the site, nor known what it was. From what I've heard, it's a HYIP.

On the blockchain, it'll show a transaction from the address 1LaxoTrQy51LnB289VmoSAgN6J6UrJbfL9. The address also has a link next to it that'll go to its website.

If you look at 1LaxoTrQy51LnB289VmoSAgN6J6UrJbfL9's transactions (https://blockchain.info/address/1LaxoTrQy51LnB289VmoSAgN6J6UrJbfL9), you'd see that it has sent 0.00001 BTC to many others.

Have you received the random 0.00001 BTC?

It usually is because they tend to send dust with no fee so it never actually confirms.

We need a place like craigslist has for the funniest posts on bitcointalk.

Please tell me how you can make a mistake on typing an address. Ask yourself how many people input each and every character case sensitive when they send coins, a simple copy and paste would never have a mistake in it.

 Just saying LOL

They are probably using some kind of script to comb through posted bitcoin addresses and send funds to each of those addresses. Looking at some of the addresses they have sent to I see that many of them have never been used but doing a quick google search for the addresses come up with posts on this forum.

What needs to be done is to coax blockchain.info into killing off all these stupid address tags to remove the incentive, or at least take abuse reports and retag it as spammer.

I think they might mark certain addresses as spam after abuse. I've seen a couple marked as so. Something should be done about this sort of thing though as it'll only get more prolific as time goes on.

Their transactions are confirming. They are sending multiple transactions and they all seem to be confirming. Many of the addresses have not even been used before, but when you do a search of the address in google you will find a bitcointalk.org result of someone posting their address.

Yeah, maybe they have a bot crawling and collecting them from here. I got 0.00001 a couple of days ago then 0.001 today. Thanks, I guess  Cheesy. Saw some of the other mods have them as well.

Anyone who receives such micro-transactions is actually incurring a loss. The blockchain size of the recipient Bitcoin wallet will increase, thereby increasing the default transaction fee. If someone gets 10 similar transactions worth BTC0.0001 in total (BTC0.00001 * 10), he might be paying BTC0.001 or BTC0.002 extra in transaction fee the next time.

And if you do make a typo and the resulting string even ends up being a valid Bitcoin address, it is highly unlikely anyone controls the private key.
