No haha. This is not the first time something like this has been introduced.
To my knowledge these sort of "virtual wallets" where available for a long time, with not real impact on bitcoin or altcoins...

It's definitely going to be a whole lot more popular than Bitcoin . It was foreseeable that the world's cutting edge tech companies are not sleeping when it comes to modern technologically advanced payment methods. Nice!

NO Something like this was never introduced, this is iPhone with NFC we are talking about, payment networks will race for offering services and people will use it on mass very soon.

It's definitely going to be a whole lot more popular than Bitcoin
Bitcoin capitalization is only $6.2 billion and estimated to be 1-2 million users. ApplePay will be integrated into every future Apple phone (146 million sold so far) and they already have full support from Visa / Mastercoin and merchants like Subway, McDonalds, Disney, Walgreens, Macy's, Sephora ApplePay isn't a Bitcoin Killer - from what I read it is a layered interface which just obfuscates your Credit / Debit card information so identity theft is less likely to occur. This could definitely rival PayPal or even replace it - who will use PayPal if I can use ApplePay instead and never have to worry about my identity being compromised? As well I can actually use ApplePay at grocers like Walgreens, can't do that with PayPal or Bitcoin. The problem with Bitcoin is 99.9999% of the offline merchants so far have been ethnic restaurants, marijuana shops, tattoo parlors or luxury car dealerships.. Bitcoin is useless for me as I can't spend it anywhere except online for computer hardware.

There ain't no Revolution like a NEMolution. The only solution is Bitcoin's dissolution! NEM!

I know a grand total of three people with Iphones. Contactless payment is everywhere where I am. I've never actually seen a real transaction take place with it yet.

Same about South Korea, paying this way a lot when I'm there. It's just another Paypal. In short; no.
PayPal is going to make Bitcoin popular ironically https://twitter.com/PayPal/status/509053601541787648

Looks quite interesting but it won't kill Bitcoin or any other crypto currency.
Too many people nowadays want to buy/sell/mine coins for this to happen; they want to hold onto the dream that one day they'll make a fortune. These people don't want coins from a stupid appstore. They don't want to line Apple's ridiculously bloated pockets any further.
And if they want anonymity, Apple is probably the last place they would go looking. Jesus H. Fucking Christ on a bike..... doesn't Jennifer Lawrence have nice tits?

"The company doesn’t store your card number on your phone or in iCloud. Instead, Apple uses what it calls the “Secure Element,” an encryption method that disguises your payment information. Apple Pay generates a number for one-time use—and the same goes for the security code on the back of your credit or debit card. When you hold your phone to a store’s NFC sensor to pay, the cashier can’t see your card number, security code, or even your name." Will Apple let people use Apple PAY on Android? I doubt it.
Why would it? Google Wallet (on Android) is a competitor, yet "Google Wallet was designed to do something similar to Apple Pay for Android phones, but wireless carriers shunned it in favor of backing their own NFC-enabled Softcard app (formerly known as Isis)".

I think it's very nice of Apple to get people used to paying for things with their cellular phones. The transition to using Bitcoin will be a very seamless next step for the masses.
