Amazon have been accepting bitcoin now for a while as stated via gyft app however then accepting it away from that would be ideal I don't feel it's something that is essential right now. I believe though that Amazon will accept bitcoin if they wish to in all kinds of forms regardless of someone's current status.

It would be great if Amazon could accept bitcoin directly, but I don't believe they are interested right now. Their volume is so huge now, increased revenue from accepting bitcoin will not contribute much to it profits. They are better off improving their business.

They will all come around and accept it eventually. It is not like they have a choice. Once it takes off a lot more and more companies like Dell have accepted it, they wont be able to resist.

We'd certainly like to think they wouldnt have a choice or that they would be forced to accept it, but it's not a certainty. People don't realise bitcoin could disappear quicker than it came if something better comes along or governments start cracking down on its use.

Since Paypal has already announced about accepting bitcoin, sooner or later others will join eventually.

Did it occur to anybody else that Amazon can't join the bitcoin revolution because Jeff Bezos is part of the bilderberg group?

If only they knew the power of the blockchain...they will join us or die.

 Grin

In all honesty i can imagine bitcoin on amazon in under 2 months.

strongly doubt it. it's christmas season in 2 months. amazon will be too busy to actually incorporate bitcoin, especially since it'll be the testing stage. earliest will probably early next year, and i don't think will happen either. amazon has been vehement.

Cant really ignore it once paypal/ebay bring the mainstream up to speed on BTC.  But yeah maybe it will take longer.

yeah right. As long as the dollar or Euro are quite good there will be no chance fpr Bitcoin to "break out". In my opinion the advantages are too small and the reputation of Bitcoin is really low. People trust in the goverment money. If they never heard of Bitcoin they can't even imagine how a money without goverment should work...

Amazon will adopt bitcoin in the future, there's no doubt about it, but it may be later than expected.

Optimistic, in my opinion. As someone already said, Amazon is a huge operation, and right now bitcoins wouldn't have a major dent in that. The gift card option is their best option it seems. No hassle, and they don't have to deal with it and still get guap.

Don't get me wrong, if Amazon does business with bitcoins directly, I think that would really get athe crypto-currency revolution rolling even faster

becoming clear that Amazon already has e-currency and
payment-platform ambitions of its own.

Bitcoin does not need Amazon !

Not anymore.  As of October 13, 2014 Amazon WebPay is done.  They just announced it today.

https://payments.amazon.com/help/76056

Quote
What is happening to Amazon WebPay?

As of October 13, 2014 Amazon WebPay will no longer be available to send, receive, or request money from other Amazon Payments users. Amazon Payments customers will no longer see the option to Send Money once they log into their account.

Why is Amazon WebPay being shut down?

We are not addressing a customer pain point particularly better than anyone else. We've learned a great deal about how and when customers want to send money and will look for ways to use these lessons in the future.

Is there another way to send, receive, or request money with other customers from my account?

No, Amazon does not offer an alternative.

If Amazon's competitors adopt BTC and prosper, then Amazon will join. It is just a matter of time.
